[quote]If proposed legislation passes many Louisiana SNAP users will see a significant change in their current benefits. No, the dollar amount and their food purchasing power will not change. What will change are the different kinds of foods and types of foods that your SNAP benefits will pay for.

Get rid of the credit-card looking EBT cards and go back to actual stamps.

Make a rule where you can only buy vegetables, meats, and fruit, and water. You don't need anything else.

Good, the reparations were at an all time high.

They have been artificially inflating the poor into the middle class messing things up.

Then they want to DEI it up so they can hire the stupidest people who will follow orders only, yes men/women.

ALl of it is a sham, Get rid of it all.

There's already restrictions on what it can be used for. The corruption comes from the shithole gas stations and corner stores charging the card $100 and paying the customer $20 cash, no product involved. Total fricking racket.

Wrong, just wrong.

If the people are stupid enough to hand them 100 for 20 its the peoples fault. They know what they are doing. Being stupid and not learning your lesson after time and time again, you deserve to be poor at that point.

sorry not sorry

Under the Healthy SNAP Act, those who receive SNAP benefits will no longer be able to use government money to buy junk food. The proposed changes to SNAP benefits would exclude the purchase of soft drinks, ice cream, and prepared desserts such as pies, cakes, cookies, and other similar products.

Why should government benefits pay for water?

They have tap water that is also likely paid for by the government, or at least subsidized.

Bottled water was not a thing in this country until about the last 20 years. The idea that FOOD subsidies pay for it is ridiculous.

If passed. Then they need to shut off cash back that they get from gas stations. Approved food only.

What's wrong? I was commenting about restrictions on purchases. Obviously, the people are dumb AF for selling their SNAP benefits for a fraction of the value. But that's what drug addicts do....

Make it a chicken costume they have to wear to the store where each feather is worth so much money and when they pluck all your ebt feathers you’re out of food stamps

No, the people who work hard for a living to earn their money legitimate will be able to purchase them at a FAIR price and have a meal with their friends in family.

Right now that same guy is paying a higher price because folks with government issued cards are creating an artificial product demand.

This is not an opinion.

Never once seen a welfare recipient buying water. Coke, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, and juices with a pound of sugar... but not water. I wouldn't get too hung up on the water thing.

Ive seen family who I know both parents are working and they struggle. Ive seen them in grocery stores buying food for the week and they arent getting the nicest of stuff, much like how I grew up. Cheaper meats, veggies, fruits. Whatever it takes thats as healthy you can buy for the price.

These same people who work a total of 80-90 hours combined a week plus take their kids to school and sport will be behind a person with an EBT card who is getting ribeyes and I know these folks dont have a job.

How is that even fair?

Wheres the equality?

The equity is in the person in front of thems hands but theres no equality.

Actually good legislation coming from our politicians. Surprising. They may hate it, gnash their teeth, and call it racist, but this is actually for their own good.

Also, I didn't know about the cash back at the gas station scam. Why aren't food stamps limited to actual grocery stores only?
