I'm in some social media football groups and mostly Ohio State fans and Texas fans are now publishing. All these total Nil spent on football images and LS used like number 5 on there at 20 million spent, but I figured this had to have been like all nil deals across sports, right? Like including Olivia Dunn, yeah? Not to be confused with Ohio State's 20 million straight on football or am I wrong? Did we spend 20 million on football?

I would think that Olivia Dunne has her own NIL deals. I doubt that LSU is paying her anything.

I could be totally wrong here but FWIW I think, from what i understand, is all these reports floating around aren’t 100% accurate and a lot of it is speculation. It’s what the Collectives choose to disclose. Like the “reports” about Beck’s deal in Miami at $4M. Where did that come from, like Becks agent or the school or what? To my knowledge there’s no rules or regs yet that requires schools or collectives from publishing what they’re offering.

That’s my understanding of it anyways. I could be way off.

I’m sure they were covering her rent and use of a car.

This thread reads exactly like it comes from a person who is in social media groups.

There was a report from the summer heading into 2024 season that said 8. Remember the collective/ TAF deal didn’t happen until after the class was decided ie this summer.

That put LSU football middle of the SEC pack in NIL. People do not want to hear that.

Olivia Dunne is one that is actually earned her NIL, unlike most of the football players that just get offered money before they play a down. She's actually made a name for herself unlike some random defensive back that gets 5 million, never plays, then moves on to his next school.

Everyone knows we didn't spend close to 20 mil on our football roster last season. Around 10 or so I would say. From here on out we will spend much more and have a nationally competitive roster every season though. LSU and BK woke up to the reality of where cfb is at the moment and LSUs expectations aren't ever going to change. We expect championships...period. So, we will do what needs to be done to accomplish our goals and meet our expectations. It's pretty simple. LSU can compete for titles any way they set it up. We just needed to come to the realization that you have to utilize the portal and spend money in this format. I'm glad LSU and BK stepped up and did what needed to be done. Geaux Tigers.

Livvy did it the way it was supposed to be done. She had already built her own brand but couldn’t get paid. She was nearly an immediate millionaire when the NIL was instated.

It has evolved in to ‘just paying players’

NIL money is like a national secret. As I hear it for being one of the poorer states we are one of the richest NIL schools.

I wonder how we would stack up against Ohio State. I know what it looked like. Big damn difference.

LSU may spend $20m in 2025, but I read where we were middle of the pack in the SEC last year $8m - $10m.

LSU's athletic department, according to "Google ",made $200.4 million in revenue during the 2023 fiscal year, but had a deficit of about $3.9 million.

Ohio State spent 80% of their NIL on player retention. Almost all 10 or 11 of those guys are day 1 or 2 picks. They could have gone pro but they came back to accomplish what they were recruited for.

It’s all lunacy so I ignore these obscene numbers being thrown around in college football like it’s Monopoly money.

It's wrong, and wasn't even close. The biggest payday is usually to a QB, and Nuss was getting half a mill at absolute best. LSU didn't have anyone close to a million on the roster last year (2024 season) except for maybe Will Campbell.

This season Nuss is somewhere around the area of 2 mill. Freshman tackle Thomas is probably 700k+. Harlem has to be 500k or more. Pickett is definitely a mill or more. Durham probably got a pay bump, Perk should still be at 500k, if not more to return for another year. The portal is probably 4-5 mill itself.
