Did any duck/goose hunters in South Louisiana make a hunt today?

My boys hunted the swamp behind the house this morning and said lots of woodchucks and a few mallards

Can a woodchuck even chuck wood? I've never heard a definitive answer..

Not in S LA, but I know where the only open water in 100 mile radius is and I’m contemplating whether I should hitch up the boat and go this afternoon. I mean the temps have climbed into the double digits, sitting at a warm 13F

Heard a few shots on Indian Creek this morning. I just ain't that mad at ducks/squirrels/deer anymore.

Yep, the older you get the more you say, nope .. to damn cold.

I did hear some shooting on mcgraw’s rice field on Saturday, but haven’t heard much since then.

I have not had much luck on polar vortex-type days, therefore I do not hunt these types of days anymore.

We hunted in the snow, in the rice fields most ducks I’ve seen here in awhile. Almost didn’t go cause I thought it may suck, but it was crazy.

These clear skies after a front have been terrible. Nothing, nada, zilch, the big goose egg, numeral zero, diddly squats. But, but I thought the freeze will push some ducks down. Time to fish.

Good deal. I have only made one hunt in those conditions and it was over twenty-five years ago. Also the most waterfowl that I had seen in awhile and I almost did not go either. "Crazy" is the best way to describe it. Unforgettable.

I just do bird watching now.
