This is why you don’t have auto-seeding and static bracket playoffs

Everyone saw that there were easy paths to the title game. Having these conference champions with auto top 5 and then having a static bracket vs dynamic will give you shite like this. Last weeks Texas OSU game lead the de-facto title game and we all knew it.

Keep the berths the same. Top 5 conference champs and 7 at large.
Everything seeded based on rank.
Maybe give the conference champs a guaranteed home game but I’m even sheepish on that after the way this playoff went.
Reseed each round.

Why? What’s the argument against it?

How shitty of a precedent does that set? “Hey you won a playoff game, we’re going to drop your seeding for the trouble. Congratulations.”
Screw that shite. You shouldn’t be arbitrarily dropped in seeding after a win regardless of the manner in which it was won.

I’d seed at beginning and then let top half winners pick opponents for next round, and continue each round. That would be awesome.

ND and OSU had easy paths?

Georgia went 2-0 against Texas (including a win in Austin, then another win when down at halftime with Beck then led back by Stockton), you dumbass.

This isn’t college football. Refer to it as watered down NFL 2.0

Seeds need to be based on rankings for a start.

It's exactly what the NFL does

I see what you’re saying.

Stockton played for a tiny amount of that game and no tape on him. Nobody expected he would do anything with a team who can prepare for him and plan to confuse him. He sucked bigly as most would. Yeah we expected Georgia to lose…dumbass

In what sport is there reseeding?
Posted on 1/20/25 at 9:14 pm to grizzlylongcut
They don’t drop the seeding. They just make it so the highest remaining plays the lowest and so on. The brackets are made with the assumption that the higher seed will win for the #1 but as soon as there’s an upset it’s the higher seeds who get fricked. ‘Congrats you earned the #1 seed but since there was an upset in a game that didn’t involve you, #2 and #3 now get to play lower seeds’ That’s how it is now

Auto bids for conference winners is fine, though it was designed for 5 Power conferences not 2, but giving them the top 4 seeds and a static bracket was stupid.

Lolol, you definitely thought UGA would beat ND, you idiot.
Btw, Texas was the 5 seed, PSU was the 6 seed, ND was the 7 seed and OSU was the 8 seed. So the semis would’ve been… Texas vs OSU and PSU vs ND, even if you re-seeded, you idiot.

Exactly. Those seedings are based on stupid auto-seeding conference champions. I would have a committee seed them based on how they rate them and you would definitely get different results and a better playoff.

Who's we? Texas did absolutely nothing to prove they were one of the best 2 teams.
