For all of the doom and gloomers on this board, which is like 99.9% of us right now, Zion came back from about 2 months off in better shape than when he left. That is new behavior.
It also sounds like Dejounte has been in his ear. I don't know how many of you have listened much to Dejounte, but he oozes leadership. I'm not ready to get hurt again, I want them to rack up ping pong balls first, but this core minus BI/CJ seems like the best current path forward that doesn't involve a total reset.

Doing a full reset makes no sense. Trade BI and CJ. Get a top 4 pick and roll with what you have.
Zion
Murray
Murphy
Herb
Missi
2025 pick
That’s a good core. Zions value is so low it doesn’t make sense to trade right now. You’re better off taking the risk.

If you zoom in on his mid section after the 360 windmill vs the Suns in 22, he has A LOT more mass in his shoulders, chest, stomach and he was amazing that year.
Right now, at this shape, he'd definitely average 30 if he was playing 34 minutes+

Sounds exactly what I said a month ago before Zions return when posters just wanted him waived lol…..

Still want to resign ingram?

Nope, this what I said last month from that thread. Still stand by it….
With his history, if we could get real assets back, something in the realm of our AD trade, I’d do what we call a pump and dump with the quickness.

This is the problem. We aren’t winning anything with him not in the building. There’s a path to winning with him. There’s no denying his talent. We either have to reach him or rehab his imagine enough to get another gm to bite on his potential to get real assets back.

It’s about what your choices are. If Zion and Ingram’s trade value is so low that you can’t get a star with gravity back, what choice do you have? We’ve seen Ingram as the lead and that’s a Playin team. He just doesn’t have enough gravity to be #1 so you can’t pick BI over Zion.

Zion is going to be hurt again this year. Every body with any remote sense of sports science has been saying for years that he is too heavy. Him playing at this size is just reckless and dangerous. Especially given his injury history and play style. I don't understand people encouraging it or believing it will somehow all work out.
He needs to be sub 250 to be on the court. He wouldn't be in shape unless he's closer to 240, with a sub 10% BF. That's a basketball players build and the only way he'll have the stamina and durability to last full seasons. All of this, "he was in shape..", never happened..

This season is basically already over anyway. There is no coming back.

Zion at 260 is in the zone. He’s a bit bigger than Barkley but Sir Charles is still the best comp. Chuck came into the league as a 6’5”, 300pd center who could jump out of the gym. Quickly realized, with veteran help, that wasn’t going to work. Playing weight went to 250-260pds and he played for 12 more seasons on his way to HOF. Z should take notes…

CJ's leadership is different. He leads by example and is generally a PC guy especially in the way he presents himself. He won't get in your face or tell you the hard truth. He's more likely to give you little hints and either you'll get it or you don't.
Murray has always said he's going to tell you what you need to hear whether it hurts your feelings or not. He's not going to beat behind the bush and will be honest when he sees something that needs to be said. It's been said that Williamson responds better to tough coaching, so Murray probably has the type of personality Williamson responds to.

So there was this one guy 40 years ago that played a totally different style and pace, but was successful. That totally justifies our star being out of shape and carrying around extra weight, for no reason.
The summer, his step father/trainer/hype man said they were targeting 270something. They believe that's where he's best. So he's obviously at least that much. It's a waste of time debating his target, while they are clinging to that belief. Even if we agree on 255, that's still 15-20bs less than he weighs now. Which is a ton for a professional athlete who should be super tuned in..

Nah, that relationship is done. Y'all are going to get your wish. I honestly hope y'all are right, because I see this turning very south when Zion doesn't commit. When he does what Zion always does, BI will no longer be there to carry the team. Trying to avoid a reset when losing a guy like Ingram is naive.
