Nick Brossette and Jacoby Stevens being let go for justified reasons.

FWIW…… Blake Ruffino said he hated that it had to happen, but has been told that neither being let go was unjustified nor were either blindsided by the moves. Said it was performance based and multiple people were involved with personnel moves that needed to be made. Lots of changes are being made to how everything is being run going forward and these were just two of many decisions being made with staff and future direction.

Most successful business leaders are 99% pragmatic in their decisions. It doesn't matter who you like or love, but how are they doing their jobs. If meh or average, they get fired. If good to great, they get a raise.

Long time Tigerdroppings reader first time poster here but I thought I had some insight on the situation worth sharing. Nick was blind sided by the move and didn't anticipate this coming at all. By all accounts and all of his co workers he was performing his role well and was never told otherwise. He received a text this morning requesting a 10:30am meeting. Nick thought the meeting was to go over the game plan/strategy for the Spring but was thrown off when an HR representative was also present for the meeting (Ambushed). It was explained to him that they were no longer in need of his services and he would no longer be on staff. Nick asked if it was due to performance issues but was never offered a justification for the termination. I can say that the termination was not due to any rule infractions or behavior issues just that they were cutting down administrative staff numbers. BK has still not addressed Nick personally. Nick is a great guy whose never had any character questions at any point in his entire career. I know several people have reached out to him for job opportunities and I do believe his future will be much brighter than BK's tenure at LSU when it comes to an end.

Shots fired.
Good luck to Nick hope he's able to find himself a great landing spot. Always rooting for a former Tiger and former Cub

So who fired him? Who was the meeting with?

What’s Ruffinos backstory? He comes on local radio 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 out of LC sometimes for interviews and I really don’t like him. He comes off as smug and kind of a know it all.

Best of luck Nick. There are lots of opportunities in the world of coaching and athletics. Unfortunately layoffs happen. Seems like you unfortunately won’t be the last to have this happen to in todays college football world. Salary caps getting bigger and unless the tigers start winning more games and donations keep flowing, downsizing on the support / admin side will have to happen.

This may be the dumbest shite I’ve seen posted. Football is a business now. CEOs don’t handle the firing of their employees, this isn’t some high school program.

Good questions. He said an HR rep was present. Who else was in the room?
FTR, a lot of great workers get let-go not due to performance, but just business decisions. Will say, if BK wasn't there, that's kinda cheap.

You expect BK to miss his tee time to handle the firing of a lower level anyalyst?

Austin Thomas is already overwhelmed and very mediocre!

Nobody really knows so please stop the speculation. I would lean in direction that it was warranted. Both he and Steven’s. Let them go do a responsible job elsewhere. They are not entitled!!!

Yall may not like it but you probably need alot more legal staff that includes a CPA and a lawyer than recruiting staff in today's world of college football. Personalitys and being liked have zero to do with a kid committing to your school anymore.

Dumb take. I get that you’re upset your friend lost his job but he’s a grown arse man and you do not need cause to fire anyone in Louisiana. He will find another job I promise. No need to take shots at Kelly. Fans want to win and he’s trying to do that.

Was a bit of a strong take. Saw the thread title and didn’t want Nick slandered for something he didn’t have much control over. College Football is a business now and run like one

All the best to nick, solid Tiger and very friendly the time that I met him out and about.
He will land on his feet!
Volatile career path especially for younger fellas, always on a year to year arrangement somewhat and that’s if you are lucky.

I dont get that at all from Blake. Out of all the local guys that breakdown LSU Football (Xs & Os, personnel, etc), he's the best imo. Most of the other locals guys don't know ball, they just regurgitate that same stuff they hear from the next guy.
If you prefer a sunshine pumper/cheerleader or somebody that's going to always tell you what you want to hear... he's not the guy.
