Go find yourself a coffee shop. Seriously, it sounds simple, but a cozy spot where you can hang out and meet new people is good for mental health. It’s not some guaranteed way to “beat” depression, but it could help.

I took 2 depression/anxiety medications for seven years, then started doing testosterone replacement therapy and I got off both medications, I feel like a fricking rockstar now

If you’re getting into your 40s and 50s, try that first

Don't Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen is a great book on the connection between rumination and depression. It won't be the ultimate answer but it's a great resource. It's an easy read at 127 pages.

Purpose. Find a purpose. Everyone who wants one can have one and be very productive and love life.

Talk to your doctor about zinc supplementation, it has been shown to help.

But be very careful with zinc, more is not better because it can affect your copper levels and depress your immune system. I think 5:2 zinc to copper ratio when supplementing is probably good but definitely talk to a doctor first.
