Don't be surprised when he is the hire.

My gut says that he wants back in the NFC North so he'll take the Bears job.

Could be worse. Way worse considering the shite show that is our roster and cap.

McCarthy would be wise to choose the easier division

I wonder what McCarthy would think about working with Derek Carr?
No matter who the Saints hire, I wonder if the coach will have the final say in that or if it's just something that the Saints are like. Hey, look we're committed to him.

McCarthy would be the best coach in the NFC South the minute he signed with us. In Chicago, he would be dealing with 3 great coaches 6 times a year

People who dismiss McCarthy really just don’t understand football. People have a short memory, McCarthy turned Aaron Brooks into a good quarterback (while McCarthy was the OC with the Saints). His record is nearly the same as Sean Payton and similar to Mike Tomlin. I don’t know about you but I would take a 12-5 record.
You have a choice in a proven commodity or a gamble on an unproven coordinator who has never been a head coach. While there are examples of coordinators becoming successful obviously MCCarthy was an OC at one time but I think at this time the Saints need stability at head coach and a proven track record.
I wouldn’t hate a rookie coach but I think McCarthy is the best option from what I see.

Great another retread washed coach. Not sure what everyone is so excited about.
Another bad hire

174-112-2 is bad?
12 years in the post season out of 18 seasons. I guess we can do worse. It would definitely be harder to get better than that with an unproven HC.

He is my first choice at the moment.

I’m still trying to decide how I would feel about hiring McCarthy.
On one hand, he is a hard nosed coach and isn’t a “continuity” hire. He’s got experience and is generally a good head coach.
I’d want to keep Kubiak or bring in a young Shanahan type OC to pair with his west coast philosophy. I’d also want him to get a top notch DC like he had with Quinn. He needs that.
What worries me is some of the time management and team being unprepared for certain situations in Dallas.
Overall, it would be a good hire. We need to kill the draft the next two years.

Why?
Do you not remember his tenure here as OC?

He wouldn't. Rattler is the future.
