Euro temperature anomalies show substantially below average temperatures. This would be from cross-polar air transported over the pole from Siberia. Of course, this could moderate and end up not being as substantially cold.

Multiple models are now throwing out the idea of another significant winter storm across the southeast. Whether a winter storm will occur, how significant it is and who it could impact is still totally up in the air right now. Should have more clarity in a few days.

That’s Celsius so it’s science fiction talk. It mean's “we have no clue but let’s make it scary, just for fun. “

My tropical plants will be without sun for a while but they're nice and warm with their space heater in the garage.

Yep a winter forecast a week out while entertaining to look at for people that like cold weather (I hate it) is pretty much useless.

Probably, but it was already being discussed in last week’s thread so I thought it would be better to give it it’s own thread.

I got it from here, and they updated it to -6. Still crazy but maybe we won't all die.

No.

The graph shows -25 below the usual low. Thats not an actual temp.

The GFS is also throwing out the idea of another significant winter storm across the southeast, but the Euro and Canadian models aren’t on board

Those are temperature anomalies, which shows the departure from the average temperature. So “-6” on that map means 6 degrees below average for the day/time that map is valid for.

GFS was showing 21 inches of snow for BR while Euro shows nothing.

I know which one I'll believe in

Current forecast has snow in North Louisiana and possible sleet in South Louisiana... The issue with winter forecasts for South Louisiana is that we are so borderline with the temperatures near the freezing mark, that one or two degrees of difference in the forecast makes a massive difference. My concern is more with rain, then a hard freeze causing a shutdown.

Another thread that will sort out the folks who know what temp anomaly is.
These maps are always an adventure.
