About to see some walk-ons run on the field only to immediately pull a hamstring.

I have to imagine a player running on the field and falling down prior to playing a snap would result in a flag

I wish we paid officials better, and got a better officiating product, because there needs to be a couple of penalties with massive official discretion and cut down on the amount of "rules" we have.

Seems like a logical solution to prevent it in game. Although it’s usually obvious when they are “faking” it, there’s really no way to go back & review and then penalize them for it

I don't know what the answer is, but this probably isn't it.

we do see a lot of legitimate incidents where a players gets wind knocked out of them, or just lands a little awkward, etc.
and yeah they get "attended to", but don't have to sit more than a play or two.

My favorite part of college football is we have two teams battling with tens of millions of dollars invested in each program

And we leave it in the hands of the boat salesman who makes $90,000 a year but refs as a part time gig

Injured player sits out 3 plays or ‘til end of drive, whichever happens first.

why isn't that it? If you need medical attention on the field, you're probably too hurt to come back in a play later

where a players gets wind knocked out of them,

you can get to the sidelines if this is what happens to you and not need to stop play.

This will speed the game up tremendously. Players who can get off the field under their own power, will get off the field. We won't need to holdup the game 10 minutes for them to sit out one play because they got a "cramp"

That is a little harsh and will keep guys from going down. They should not be allowed back in until there is a stop in play, time out, or the other team subsittues.

So is everyone also ok then with the root cause of this issue - hurry up offenses not letting defenses get ready or substitute?

Faking injuries needs to absolutely get fixed but remember how we got here.

Just allow defenses to sub.

did you ever play organized football?
ever rolled an ankle?

hurts like frick in the instant it happens.
get it re-taped and back on field in 2 plays, tops.

As a coach of mine told us once. "If the game stops so we can take you off the field, then you won't be going back. You can stretch on the sideline. They can tape you on the sideline. They can put a shoulder or finger back in place on the sideline. If you stop the game then that means you are injured and not hurt, and I'm not playing an injured player."

An injury timeout is for an injury, not a hurt. Get off the field, get treatment, and then get back out there and help your team. If you are the cause of an injury timeout then sitting the rest of the drive at minimum should be fine since you are injured.

Getting to the sideline 25 yards away would legit feel like storming the beaches of Normandy after having the wind knocked out of you

Also there is a much easier fix that doesn’t change the game

$500,000 fine for the head coach for every injury that’s deemed fake after the game

After 3 fines, it goes to $1,000,000 per fake injury.

shite would stop in a hurry

well if the rest of the world was a Johnny Bad-arse like you then this wouldn’t be an issue.

but for the mere mortals that are living on earth, it ain’t that easy to have to get yourself off the field and run/jog clean across a football field immediately after a fricked up landing on an ankle.

or getting smoked in the lower abs and you legitimately can’t breathe at all for several seconds to a full minute.
you damn sure ain’t getting up and running off the field when that happens.

Also make it a reviewable play. And have a camera set up to monitor the sideline. Any time there is a signal to fake the coaches get fined anytime a player does this

They are out for the rest of the game

This would be an example of the coaches getting fined AND the player out the rest of the game

Officials aren’t going to call it in the heat of the moment because the last thing they need is the liability of saying a kid fakes an injury.

But stuff like this where it’s clear?

Gotta get that out of the game

I’d make it a quarter for “player safety”.

If they’re injured enough to require a stoppage they need to be fully evaluated by medical staff.

As was proposed if your staff says they’re ok you can bring them back with a TO.

I’d also add sanctions for any coaches who are shown to be signaling for fake injuries as far as fines or something similar.

Here's an interesting discussion point in Charlotte at the AFCA convention to slow feigning injuries: Any injured player would be sidelined the rest of the drive. Coaches could use a timeout to reinstate player.

Well I guess Dellinger really doesn't read Tigerdroppings. He acts like it's a novel idea. Every board has been saying this is a potential solution for the last few years.
