QB play in the NFL just shows you how good the 2010s were.

No, there were about 10 teams with ELITE QBs.

Now there may be 4 or 5

I mean in this playoffs you have Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Jayden, stroud, hurts, Goff all playing great ball right now

It's not like 2024-25 is a set of bad QBs. QBs are just young

AFC
Mahomes vs Stroud
Allen vs Jackson

NFC
Goff vs Daniels
Hurts vs Stafford/Darnold

2012 (Just Example)
AFC
P. Manning vs Flacco
Brady vs Schaub

NFC
Rodgers vs Kaepernick
Wilson vs Ryan

The AFC has Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow who will all be first ballot HOF QBs and are 29, 28, 28, and 28 years old respectively.

Michael Vick played in the 2010s too. There are more that’s just the more recent ones I can remember.

And yea, Flacco had a few elite years but his entire career wasn’t.

Currently, we have seven teams with pressing needs at QB (Jets, Browns, Steelers, Colts, Titans, Raiders, Giants). In the 2010s, pretty much half the league had bad QB situations. The level of quarterback play throughout the league is way better now than it ever was in the past.

Has as much to do about defensive adjustment to pass happy spread offenses than anything else.

You had a while there where DCs couldn't stop the Wildcat. Imagine what they would have done trying to stop Lamar or Josh Allen.

Hurts is a better QB than Flacco was and perfectly on par with other QBs he listed

Mehhh their arm talent is not as good as those QBs but they’re way more athletic.

I just hate in today’s game it seems like QBs really don’t stretch the field as much as back then. It seems like every single pass is a 5 yard attempt or quick pass to the flat. It’s pretty bad.

Trying to pass deep against 2 high safety would just be dumb as hell which is what defenses will often run now

There are still not enough QBs to go around.

This.

We are in a period in which defenses have caught up with offenses, especially in regards to the passing game. The elimination of larger hard hitting safety's having an enforcer type role over the middle has teams playing smaller glorified cornerbacks in their role which has lead to better coverage. Offenses have countered by going to the run and shorter passing game which keeps the clock moving and shortening games.

Was even less the further you go back. It’s more than doubled since the early 2010s
