Kelly pros and cons

I'm a CBK fan and I continue to be amazed at the comments suggesting Kelly is NOT the answer to LSU's football program long term - especially after the success this season by Notre Dame. I'm actually pulling for ND since my kid was there while Kelly was the coach and I love the place.
PROS for Kelly: It looks like he has figured out the NIL game. He was able to get his 2 super stars on both offense (Nuss) and defense (Perk) to return for another season. He loves the SEC and the weekly competition. He's a proven coach that simply wins. He's gunning for that elusive natty.
CONS for Kelly: He seems to have figured out how to get multiple great players on offense but NOT on defense. Still struggling w running game in general. Nuss could be so much more effective if the other team had to guess if we were going to pass or run. Special teams overall are average. Choosing to accept kick off to start game. NEVER a good thing IMHO. Always good to have the ball to start 2nd half if possible - especially with our offense. Double-digit defeats - unacceptable! He talks a good game in interviews. Would rather he let team do talking on the field.
Enjoy your Sunday and the LSUNFL playoffs! Geaux Tigers!

Pros: He will be gone soon after another 4 loss season.
Cons: dude is a stubborn loser who can’t win big games.

Proven what? He’s traditionally not won the big games and largely stands on a win pct built on beating up lesser talent. I’m pulling for him because I want LSU to be successful first and foremost but to act like he’s above criticism is ridiculous.

He wins just enough not to get fired.
He’s Mr. 9-3.
He doesn’t care about special teams and that has cost LSU multiple games
He stubborn af. His refusal to go all in on NIL cost LSU games

Its really simple. You try and fix your deficiencys the best you can with the money you have available to you. He's done that. His biggest failure as a head coach at LSU was the defensive coaches he hired when he first came. House, Steeples, Cooks, Lindsey were all massive misses in evaluating and coaching talent. Thats why these teams have lost multiple games each year. He's fixed that i do believe. It just takes time.

Kelly was the perfect get to turn a sinking ship around and floating again!
If he doesn't make the playoffs next year I have no further use for him.

I am not for or against Kelly. I am for LSU, simple as that.

Just because LSU's NIL supporters have stepped up doesn't

Flip him and saban (12 and 20 loaded bama teams) and dabo (unreal 2018 clemson team) at head coach, does notre dame win either of those games?
Answers no. He lost to better teams

every coach in the SEC is struggling with the new landscape. same can be said for every other conference.
Kelly is a good coach so there is no sense in talking about a replacement unless he is as close to sure fire as there is. so i put it to you? who out there is sure fire? Even Nick was starting to struggle.
I believe he is capable. but i'm not going to defend him to the death.

Just because LSU's NIL supporters have stepped up doesn't mean he has it figured out. That is more on Austin Thomas who handles that.

He needs to realize that Brad Davis is not the answer or at least needs someone brought to teach run blocking because isn't getting it done and Kelly has yet to address this.

He needs to hire a damn real special teams coach. Special teams are 1/3 of the game and can be a real weapon if you have a good coach. The whole taking the kick off at the start of the game is over blown. It is easy to see that he has more confidence in his offense than the defense so he is trying to get the upper hand from the beginning. Kicking off to start doesn't guarantee that you will receive in the 2nd half like so many here believe. Yes most of the time I would kick off but it isn't that simple.

Needs to come to realization that offense wins games but defense wins championships. Look at teams in final four. Defense got them there.

Con - he’s been at LSU 3 years.
Pro - he has 3 less years on his contract..

quote:Newsflash genius an eight and four season will not get Brian Kelly gone with a $51 million buyout. It’s not gonna happen wake up and get over it.
Pros: He will be gone soon after another 4 loss season. Cons: dude is a stubborn loser who can’t win big games.
And go ahead and tell me all the boosters are gonna pay for it. I happen to work for a company that contribute’s (One of those companies you see advertising in Tiger Stadium) alot of money to LSU and they are not going to pay for that buyout.
LSU as much as it sucks is not Texas A&M when it comes to that kind of money

Well, something undeniable about him is he has built multiple programs from the ground up into winners. Regardless what you think of competition, that's undeniable. That only should give him a major edge because not many coaches can do that even against "lesser competition".

PRO: I was impressed that he put up his own money towards NIL and incentivized fans to do so.
CON: He doesn’t seem to be able to, or doesn’t work hard enough to prepare his team ahead of crucial games. Lots of personality cons but the first one is very disturbing.

Pros: Not a chance he’s here 10 yrs
Cons: His best season at LSU was with Coach O’s recruits

Well he has never had a team with big time talent everywhere to win “big games” which are really just games against good teams, here or at ND. So I think the real discussion is, is that on him or not. At ND with no geographical recruiting base it was always argued that he was at a disadvantage, which I personally still adhere to regardless of this years results. At LSU it has been argued he took over a poor/depleted roster, however, after 3 recruiting cycles I think it can be argued if next years team looks like this years he is just a poor evaluator of talent. As he has for the most part it seems signed the recruits he has wanted, other recruiting factors play a much smaller role.
So for me if next year LSU looks like an lsu team athletically we are used to post 2000 I think the excuses used for him may be valid however if they continue on the trend of teams post 19 from an athletic and competitive point of view I think we are in need of a change.

Pros: Offense. Not personally embarrassing like the last two head coaches.
Cons: Defense. Only pretends to be hungry. Is paid too much to replace.
