Birmingham: Brother Cane, Slick Lilly, Lee Bains & the Glory Fires, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Remy Zero, Lynam, Verbena, Virgos Merlot, Mars Electric, and Telluride. I'm sure I'm missing some.

I know you said bands, but the best I can come up with from Bogalusa is this duo of brothers, Shirkee and Zarnoff. They appeared once on American Bandstand with Dick Clark in the late 1950s:
