Day of Remembrance for Jimmuh

Fitting…waste a potentially productive day in honor of a waste.

No mail to honor Jimmy carter
Posted on 1/9/25 at 6:09 am to udtiger
Can anyone explain why the usps needs to honor Jimmy? Did he do something in particular to benefit the usps?
I think it is time DOGE and Trump take a long hard look

It isn’t that serious. When Presidents die, there’s a federal holiday on the day of the funeral. They did the same thing for Bush in 2018.

Well why not. The mail service is an abomination and Carters four years was an abomination. It’s fitting

Jimmy didn’t deliver for four years.

I find it silly and all but i will ask this, do your bills actually still come in the mail?
And if so, why?

The Fed elites like to pretend they're exalted royalty.

Some of our customers still pay by check and it's more than you would think

Technically, it is considered a National Day of Mourning. There are things that are closed on Federal Holidays that remain operating during days of mourning. Things closed include:
US Postal Service Offices
National Parks Office (Parks themselves will remain open)
New York Stock Exchange (US Markets Closed)
US Supreme Court
US Department of Defense education activity (military schools)
This started in 1865 after Lincoln's Assassination, and has continued for US Presidents since then. Even for a President that does not have a State Funeral (like Nixon) there is still a National Day of Mourning.

Also, most US stock exchanges and bond markets are closed too or have limited trading.
So no dumping of your last few shares before it crashes again.
Most banks will be open and the FED will be processing ACH transactions so no “extra” day if you paid your bills yesterday.

This is how bad the post office has become.
How in the hell does not working today honor anything. What a useless organization.

My mail service is great. Same lady is like clockwork everyday with the mail and will hand deliver to you if you're outside.

Did they do this for RR? If Jimmy Carter gets remembered for an entire day, Reagan should have gotten an entire week.

Financial markets closed also.
