I spent YEARS thinking this was a Rod Stewart song until recently. An interesting fact that I literally just found out today was that the song was even originally written for Rod Stewart:

I'm still not fully convinced "Sultans of Swing" isn't
Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan

Ha. I can see that. On that same note, The Grateful Dead’s “Touch of Grey” sounds like a lost Dire Straits song.

I had no clue that song Winning was by Santana... I hate both Santana and that song, so when I recently came to know this, I felt good..

I thought Right Here Right Now was sung by U2 until last year. Had never heard of Jesus Jones.

For a long time I thought," Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)" was a CCR song. Instead it was done by the Hollies.

Won a bet last year on this. Came on the radio at a party. 5 people just "knew" it was CCR. I said nope, it's The Hollies.
They had to jump in a pool in January.

Same!
Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" I always thought was Cheap Trick. I genuinely wasn't until 2 years ago that I learned otherwise

I thought House of the Rising Son was the Rolling Stones.

I always knew it was Cheap Trick but I swore it was a cover. Went back and forth with a friend back then, he had to bring me the album liner to show me it was written by Freddie Mercury.

I thought Something In The Air(Thunderclap Newman) was The Who. While it's not, Pete Townsend had a lot to do with the band.

Always thought Stuck in the Middle You was Dylan. Still have zero idea who actually does that song.

I've always thought it sounded like a Crosby, Stills and Nash song.

Bowie did write it, I think.

I was shocked when I found out Hungry Heart was Springsteen. It's so much better than his usual tunes AND it doesn't sound like him singing.
