These first two games in league play are probably the easiest games we will see the rest of year and we will be 0-2
Not good!!

I would actually say they are very similar. Both had top 20 recruiting classes, to date he has done less than Jones did. At least Johnny had a tournament appearance during his time.

What this shows is that being a high iq, x and o guy isnt the key to success in CBB.

By all accounts, McMahon is the most cerebral coach in the conference. Reporters who have interviewed him are unanimous in their impression that he exudes strategy and tactic.

He’s a master of the game, just not a master at roster construction

Johnny Jones took over a team that literally had a tuba player starting at center.

By year 3 he was in the tournament.

Ben Simmons screwed Jones and the program in many ways.

I’d say they’re close to the same but JJ actually had good years and had a better year than MM will ever have in his first season. You can poo poo the SEC back then but we were in more final 4s and won more Nattys so it’s not as black and white as you think.

I'm not entirely sure on this.

Johnny got Ben Simmon'd.

After that dude came to campus it was straight downhill

Two things can be true at the same time

The sec is possibly the best it's EVER been

ALSO

he may finish with a worse SEC record than last year and should be fired if he does

This is more sad than the JJ years. Our teams under Mid McMahon look like they’re playing in slow motion. There is hardly any energy in our games and it’s always a slog to get through if we aren’t down 20 by halftime. They just look like they’re at a class below every other sec team. It’s depressing.

True the only TRUE sec looking player tore his ACL

No offense to the rest of the guys but they look little weak and quite sunbelt-ish

I just can't believe Woodward actually thinks this guy can coach, and Mcsofty is no master of the game if he was his teams could rebound and wouldn't be turnover machines. This guy can't even coach at the NAIA level!

Ben Simmons brought ridiculous expectations to the program when even taken at his best he was not the kind of player that could single handedly elevate a team in that manner.

I said it during the season after the OU game that Simmons didn’t have that dog on him compared to Hield and it kept carrying over.

At first many on this board and clearly the media blamed Jones but with hindsight of how Simmons carried himself in the NBA that season is just as much on Simmons.

The issue is that it snowballed. The following season and in recruiting we became “the program that couldn’t even make a tourney with Ben Simmons”
