Has anyone here willingly given away cash inheritance to their siblings?

I have. My sibling needs it more than me.

Good for you. I hope your brother was grateful.

Keep up the compliments and you might be the next benefactor of my altruism.

You about to be beaten up by the OT........ Kudos to you for doing the 'right thing'. If you are financially secure, your decision to help a less fortunate sibling will be making your parents proud. You are a relic of days gone by. Happy New Year!

I'm sure you never bring it up to them either.

My oldest brother had his inheritance passed immediately to his kids (he's a millionaire and doesn't need the cash).
One of my sisters took the family house since she still lives in the town where we grew up. She still got a little cash to even things out.

Cash, no, but when my father died and we divided up what was left, my sisters and I gave him my dads truck as he needed one worse than any of us. We could have taken the cost out of something else, but we didn't.

Literally never.

Yeah, my wife and her brother renounced their shares of their mom’s estate - probably $100,000 each. Their brother, whose family lived with their mom, got the whole thing.

Is it really called an inheritance if it's below the $500 range?

Only child and only heir from my aunt and uncle and I will get quite a bit from everyone. Multiple 7 figures.
I will leave everything I get and more to my kids who I hope do the same for theirs.

Enough to make sure their two young kids private school is completely paid for until they go to college.
