39 pages, some of the information is obviously outdated but some is still relevant.

Enjoy

I had a season ticket to it and went many many times. It was a great event in every way except financially.

Aug 1984 I started my freshman year at Loyola, drinking age was 18 and I had a season pass to the fair. A better time has never been had by me anywhere or any time

wow those tickets were pricey, $15 1 day adult ticket, equivilent to $45 today, for a family you are talking a pretty penny!

It was supposed to stay open until 11 November but it ran out of money and closed early on my wedding day, 10/12/84.

ETA: I got overwhelmed by my wedding day, evidently the fair did indeed lurch to its final scheduled closing date of 11/11/84. Sorry for the miscommunication.

WRONG.

I worked the World's Fair from opening day to closing day, November 11, 1984. Worked in a official world's fair souvenir store right across from the Space Shuttle and the American pavilion.

I can assure you we worked the last day Sunday November 11th, selling marked down souvenirs all day long; we started drinking wine mid afternoon. Shut the doors to the store and we finished the last bottle and toasted the fair just outside the store as the fireworks went off.

News story of the closing:

Dang. You were right.

Sorry for the incorrect information I gave.

using an inflation calculator it looks like tickets to the fair would be $45 in todays pricing. I wonder how that compares to todays pricing for something like this

New Orleans enjoys semitropical weather year round. The site right on the Mississippi River is cooled by a steady breeze lessening the effects of the summer temperatures.

I can only wonder what the Riverfront and warehouse district would have looked like without the Worlds Fair.

That damn gondola was scary as shite as a 5 year old. I thought I was falling into that river and dying 1000%.
