Brought in the New Year in Tensas and it was ridiculous. Here's a sample of a few I saw over two days. Never took a shot.

Some are shaky and my picture taking skills or camera aren't that great. Most of these were at least 100 yards away and some as far as 250.

First and Last almost got it but I decided I wouldn't shoot unless it was going on the wall.

Headed back tonight with my son. I may try to sell a kidney or nut to get in this club.

That's good times. As long as I see deer (don't care what kind), I get excited during a hunt. When I don't see deer I convince myself everything I'm doing is wrong

Yea he was a butterball and was the widest, but had most of his tines broken off. I was waiting for the one that whipped his arse

Same.

And I'm a sucker for the first one too! I like those tall racks. Someone shot a tall 7 on a property a few weeks back.

Good job. You’re the type guest that a club is happy to have back.

affitmative
most guests show up with an empty ice chest and a full box of bullets
back when i allowed guests, id tell them to bring ribeyes, whiskey and a mississippi hunting license
you will find out who really wants to be a guest with those parameters…

I'll roll in with ribeyes and potatoes tonight. And my son, who is liable to cut one of these boys. I've told him to be choosy - if we kill another one I'll have to buy a new freezer.

It's fun to pull the trigger but this old man will be ok if I never kill another one.
I'm just taking an AR and hope a herd of hogs shows back up.

1/4 update:
Last pic got killed by a club member yesterday but still proud I passed him. Put my son in same stand this morning and it was the best day I’ve had hunting since he was born (22 years ago). He’s been hunting hard all year- killed two does- but the bucks have been elusive. Told him to be choosy and when he shot I was leary about the outcome. Texted me it was a big one and indeed it was. 200# 9 pt. cruised by and took a .270 round to the body. Deer was down but still alive with head up. I told him to shoot that bitch until he’s dead dead. . Took a finish off shot but he got his biggest buck to date. 18” spread with big mass and he’s going on the wall. One of his eyes had been gouged out from fighting.

I think I was more excited than he was.

SCwTiger, does that club have antler or age restrictions on the bucks?

Congrats to your son. Heck of a deer. That mount is gonna have a lot of character. I’d love to see the one that put the arse whipping on him.

No restrictions other than make sure it’s a mature buck.

Back in the 80's my dad had a friends who was a member in Spring Bayou (Tensas Club), man I loved going hunting over there.
