Does anyone remember this movie. I always thought it was a great movie with an awesome sound track. (Especially being a high school wrestler at the time). The only thing I take issue with is the final match. Anyone that knows wrestling could point out multiple problems with it. Why couldn’t they have made it more realistic?

Overall, it is a really good coming of age/inspiring teen movie. Music was fantastic and I think the acting was better than one would expect from such a project.

I agree with the minor quibbles about some of the wrestling stuff and those sorts of details sometimes take a backseat to the "Hollywood" part. I mean, you want Karate baws to come at the original Karate Kid with all their checklists and concerns?

I think Vision Quest is a better movie, but I'm not shitting on the "karate" part of KK to do it.

Yes. I agree with the Hollywood part. I didn’t realize so many people ended up watching this movie.

Most underrated movie of that era.

Vision Quest and Iron Eagle were the 2 best teen movies of the ‘80s.

Some chicks still don't realize that mohawk guy was also Jake in 16 Candles.

Great movie! One of my 80’s favorites.

So many great lines…

“She caught me with my nose in her panties’
‘So she woke up huh?”
“She wasn’t wearing them shite brain”

TIL. I didn't know that. Of course I haven't watched that movie since I was in 9th grade though.

If you grew up in the 80s, most do.....because it's a classic loved by Gen X.

Btw, can you imagine being in High School and some single hot chick moves into you House?

"Let me tell ya, kid – it was pretty goddamned glorious. It ain’t the six minutes… it’s what happens in that six minutes."

I think it was very influential on me. Pursuing physical excellence, learning the art of seduction, rising above one’s environment, etc. I probably watched that movie 25 times.
