Idiots had no barriers on Bourbon street. Total City and NOPD incompetence
All should resign - the mayor, city council and NOPD police chief.
$40 million in 2017 for barriers and these morons put up Mardi Gras aluminum that an 80 year old could push over.

Why weren't the solid hydraulic bollards raised???

Who answers for this one?

Anyone?

* Those are raised, the truck doesn't get onto Bourbon. It's over before it starts.

Bingo. Even a cop car blocking entrance would have worked. Instead we had 300 cops standing around.
Time to demand resignations instead of this political BS of “lessons learned” crap.

This is what I heard from someone with Homeland, take it for what is is worth:

NOLA got a grant for the barricades before their last Super Bowl. The city went cheap and put garbage up. Homeland required NOLA to go back and replace them. The new ones were supposed to be in place one year ago.

The bollards are in the process of being replaced for the Super Bowl. It doesn’t sound like they would have stopped this attack. Not sure if most casualties died from being hit by the vehicle or gun fire.

Did you see the video? There was a police car blocking bourbon. The truck jumped up on the sidewalk.

Because they are being replaced for the Super Bowl. But if the truck can get on the sidewalk, do the bollards work anyway?

A commissioner said the bollards may have been unoperatiinable and cop cars were used to block the streets. The terrorist went around the cop car on the sidewalk.

Inexcusable.

Yep. Just drive right around the cops. Not sure it was really “blocked”.
