Southern Indiana isn't too bad but once you get up to Bloomington it sucks.

The really damning ones are the vlogs by super liberal YouTuber/Influencers who travel there to own the racists only to later declare that it sucks and they will never go there again.
I don't want to hate on Musk because he's done way more good than bad, but Vivek is a fricking game show host conman and his former country is a shithole. They have half the landmass of the US and 4 times the population. Why in the frick would I ever want to bring that here?

NW Indiana had a huge hillbilly immigration surge in the 40's and 50's. Hammond, Lafayette, Whiting, Dyer still hold the tradition of getting pregnant by 20 and poor dental care.

India stands for “I’ll never do it again”. Those rickshaws gave me flashbacks lol. Stuck in traffic in jungle heat (Mumbai) behind an old bus blowing exhaust in your face and everything around you smells like a dump. The train also an interesting experience. I was in a “westerner” part of one which wasn’t as bad as that video. Served us tea and snacks. The toilet doesn’t have plumbing tho so it’s just an open hole and everything falls on the tracks. Quite the sensation.

If you want a real YT experience of 3rd world watch the guy that goes down and cleans sewers everyday for his job. He is up to his neck in that chit so he can put his kids through school. I think it's in India or Pakistan. People are so stupid they flush all their household garbage down the toilet or holes then he has to scoop out by hand all this garbage or it backs up everyday.

I’ve been there plenty of times.
I’ve been to worse, and it’s getting better.
Plus, the food is amazing and the history (especially under the British) is interesting.
Honestly, most of you people sound like you haven’t traveled much. Most of the world is not the fairy tale world of Western Europe or the incredible conveniences of the US. If that stops you from seeing them, it’s your loss.

Ive worked in many many countries out in the trade and seen things that would break your heart.
And also been to many of the inner cities in the US that many of you would not exist in the US, some real sad things.
But sit in your comfortable homes and judge others, many of whom are doing shat you would not dream of to feed their family, and bust their arse more than you ever have, cause you were lucky enough to be born in the US.

What does this have to do with enthusiasm, or lack thereof, of importing cheap labor from India?

I don't have any issue with (dot) Indians but I can't fricking understand them even when they speak "English". When I'm forced to phone a call center or customer support help desk for any reason from personal to work, I wait until actually hearing a live person's voice and if I can't understand them I just hang up and keep calling back until I get someone American or an Indian that I can actually understand.
It burns me up to waste so much time. Sometimes it takes an hour just to hear a live voice only to hang up on them and start the process over again, but it's even more frustrating (to me personally) to not be able to communicate with someone because I cannot decipher their butchering of my native tongue.
