I think they brought him in as potential future kickoff specialist due to leg strength rather than FG accuracy.

Seems nutty when we have a top 5 KOS that will be a true sophomore next year. Most colleges don’t even have a KOS.

Does that really matter? Catholic doesn't have to allow LSU's recruiters on campus. Sampson was the 14th ranked WR in his class, and LSU already lost the 13th ranked WR in that class. It wouldn't be hard for somebody to paint a story of this staff being bad for WR. Sure, we would know it's BS, but some circles would make noise.
Why allow that to fester when you can just give a kicker a PWO spot?

Are you clinically insane?
The development of Malik, BTJ, Aaron Anderson, etc all came at the hands of this staff…there is a ton to question about this coaching staff, Wide Receiver (and Quarterback for that matter) development isn’t one of them
