28 nosler

Didn’t feel like getting out of bed this morning so I snoozed till the last minute, got up and walked around to the back side of the fishing pond and set my rifle up over the crawfish ponds. It’s about 500 yards to the farthest point I can shoot. I’m giving it a few minutes, then I’m going get my 20ga and going shoot some snipe. Good luck!

Saw a young 8 pt and a spike chasing a doe around yesterday afternoon in this stand. Shouldn’t be long before the big boys get cranked up. Mature deer on the menu today. Good luck gents and merry Christmas!

I'm about a mile in the woods in a deer hidey hole. 34 degrees and no wind. Remington .30-06 here. Hoping to see one this morning. I didn't see any deer on the highway driving in so I'm feeling optimistic.

Prolly a doe with that WAP.
About 10 mins later had a deer come through bird doggie the same went the first one passed out the scope on it and it must have been small cus couldn’t see a monster rack. 15 mins later hear limbs breaking and sure enough another buck bird doggiing the same trail. Been a tense 1hr so far.
Still trips me out how exciting that a spike in chase mode can get the old heart rate up.
Just looked at my watch and it almost spiked to 90bpm

Rapides Parish box stand
49 and still
Just smoked a mangy arse yote with a .270.
Normally don’t blow up the stand early on trash but I’m hunting bigs only (one tag left) and not hunting long today.
He’s shown up several times but today was his last.
Now if I only had some beagles to run all these rabbits he was stalking. Never seen so many.

Merry hunting all!

ETA : Yotes don’t handle Nosler Partition well.
Head on shot.

Found him. Young 9 point. Best bow kill to date. Took a while to find blood.I saw where he initially went and then 5-10 minutes after he got up and he jumped over some logs. So I was able to get a good visual of where he went and I drew a line from my stand to those logs on the app. Had blood on the logs and I found him.

I’ll post some pictures later.
