Suppose a high school student athlete who did not qualify academically files a law suite against the NCAA on the grounds of discrimination because he did not qualify to play as a freshman .

Those are the rules. If you don’t qualify. Hey, you can’t play. What’s next a player demands that a dunk be worth 3 points , because he thinks that should be the rules??

Rules are need to govern the game

No rules apply it’s a free for all judges make decisions not the NCAA . The QB from Vanderbilt is a prime example now you may have a player 26 years old playing against an18 year old on a consistent basis .

At least the ACT or SAT tests are the same or very similar across the country. The grades given are highly dependent on the quality of the school. All 4.0+ GPAs are not created equal.

You dreamed up something hypothetical to get mad about.

Not really. The Pavia ruling makes anything possible

No.

I think the 4 year eligibility limit will soon be removed, but schools will still be allowed to set standards regarding admissions.

Discrimination based on what? There are rules and standards and they want a dumb down lawsuit. Ridiculous nonsense.

They're still students and should be subject to the same requirements for admission.

Hint, for the most part they're not.

The attack will come to the extent the NCAAs eligibility standards to continue to play are different from the schools good standing requirements.

I’m sure we’re all aware of the flaws and biases of standardized tests.

I think most people are missing the point of this thread. All of the other so called "rules" that have been around for decades have suddenly evaporated overnight, so at this point anything is on the table. Absolute clown world

They don’t need test scores anymore at D1 level

I honestly believe a player could challenge the 4 years of eligibility rule and win.

My understanding is that ruling specifically applied to junior college or NAIA schools which by definition are not part of NCAAs 3 divisions.

What is the big deal about this?
Were people not aware of 24 and 25 year olds playing NCAA sports already?

There’s no constitutional protection from being discriminated against based on stupidity, but to your question, I’m sure some leftist think tank ( aka college law clinics) is working on the necessary subversive language to make the attempt, once the perfect leftist judge in the perfect leftist circuit is identified.

The Court's won't need to do it. It is only a matter of time before the only things connecting the university to the football team will be a licensing agreement for the logos and lease agreements for the facilities.
