Again, I’ll point out that to those of us who remember when the movie was released (I was 18 the summer of 1988 when it was released) never considered it a Christmas movie. No one. The notion it is a Christmas movie only started in the last roughly 10 years when it be became popular and edgy to argue it’s a Christmas movie. Before the 2010s, nobody ever argued that it is a Christmas movie. Stop pretending like they did.

So a movie has to be released around Christmas to be a Christmas movie?
The overall storyline of an individual keeping thrives from committing a robbery is crucial to Die Hard and Home Alone. Both events occur on Christmas Eve.
Why is Home Alone a Christmas movie and why can’t Die Hard be considered one?

Did I say that? No. All I am saying is that no one considered it a Christmas movie until a few years ago when it became the edgy thing to do on the internet. I have it catalogued as a Christmas Adjacent movie. Like Gremlins. Christmas is more a setting and context thing than a plot element.
