No secret LSU has had a culture change this offseason. Listen to Pate speak about it here.

Apologize if this has been posted already today but this video is a good little tidbit into the current state of NIL. I am not the biggest Pate guy but he is normally a pretty locked in dude and tends not to talk out of his arse.

He highlights the major changes LSU NIL has had in the last 60-90 days. He also specifically speaks about the step up of NIL
behind the scenes post the Underwood decommitment. He mentions there is a lot more “capable” people running the show now.

Great vibes around this team and program right now.

Josh Pate on LSU

Bonus Portal Info-

Braelin Moore is viewed as when not an if for LSU. The Virginia Tech Center. Moore would be a day 1 starter for the program and is viewed as a day 2 pick and a top center for the 2026 NFL draft. This one should excite everyone. Player Profile Braelin Moore

Sydir Mitchell is viewed as an extreme LSU lean. Texas DT. Expect him to commit following his current visit to LSU based on crystal ball and RPM picks this one will move quickly. This defense is starting to look like a real threat for the first time in the BK era. Player Profile Sydir Mitchell

Patrick Payton is on the LSU radar. Florida St. EDGE. This one will be quite expensive. If we add him into the mix I will be ecstatic. He’s currently ranked as the #2 player in the portal. Expect LSU to try and get him on campus. Player Profile Patrick Payton

I have serious doubts that Josh Pate knows anything first hand. He spends half of his show every week hinting that he has inside information and is often just flat wrong.

He’s industry, so by default he knows people. But it doesn’t take an insider to know LSU had a big pile of money set aside to bring in Bryce Underwood, and now they are spending that money on transfers instead.

I truly believe it’s a lot more than this. I think it was a more of a wake up call for LSU and their current state in NIL. And I think a lot of people have stepped up in and around the program. I have no doubt this program and its boosters are serious about bringing LSU to a championship level. That is step 1.

It’s also like do y’all wanna spend money on a buyout for a coach or try to give him the best roster you can to be successful? No matter who your coach is you gotta pay players so why buy the coach out unless you think he really can’t do it.

In reality it’s probably a bunch of different factors. Money we had set aside for Underwood, better overall management of the NIL program, a somewhat viral spree of Bayou Traditions donations (which ties into better management as well).

One thing I haven’t seen discussed a ton is the impact of the House settlement. The settlement, if approved, requires any NIL deals >$600 with collectives to be approved by a third-party clearinghouse to ensure they aren’t pay-for-play. It remains to be seen whether that passes legal muster over the long term, but the implications are enormous.

LSU will be very well-positioned for revenue sharing simply because we are a top-tier program in terms of overall revenue. If collectives get gutted next year, what do they do with all the money they’ve raised thus far? Surely they have a war chest built up so that they can actually cover these 3+ year deals that are being offered.

If you have a solid plan for how to make ends meet and hit the rev share cap once it’s implemented, you might as well spend that war chest while you still can. I think that’s likely part of what we are seeing as well.

Payton is the type of player we need. We have gotten some solid players out the portal but we need that game changer on defense.

Approved by a third party clearing house? Sounds like the current pay for play with another middle man added to the shakedown process.

Pate is similar to Moscona. Never wrong. Just weasels his way out of it and claims he was right all along. Douche

In the 2022 season, LSU’s QB room consisted of

Jayden Daniels
Nuss
Walker Howard

Moscona claimed that you could watch a practice and see that “the ball just jumped out of Walker’s hand different. His arm is on another level!”

One was a Heisman trophy winner, the other is a potential 1st round pick, and the guy Moscona claimed was the best talent couldn’t ever make it higher than 3rd on an SEC depth chart and will play in the Sunbelt next year.

The truth is he doesn’t know much beyond having industry connections. He was hyping up the local guy because he thought that’s what listeners wanted to hear.

As he’s gotten more corporate, he’s gotten less unique. People will say it’s because he’s a Bama fan, but he’s always an SEC homer. He just latches on to whichever program he thinks is best at the time, and lately that’s been Georgia and Bama.

This would be the 3rd edge we would be taking this portal window if he were to come here. What would we do with butler or pyburn?

Pyburn isn’t a pass rusher really. They would have different roles.

The few times Howard got on the field at LSU he looked like a middle school kid playing with Division I college players. I never understood the hype. Didn't he miss most of his senior year with an injury?

Best news I heard all offseason.
I know Chester was a RS freshman, but he was not good at his position at all. Maybe he'd be better at Guard, but he cannot be our starting Center next year.

He has not been good at all since Verse left. And has a habit of displaying poor effort. Not saying he isn’t talent nor that he wouldn’t do well here, but he’s not the slam dunk people think he is.
