Parking in New Orleans CBD for 3 days?

Debating on putting this here or the Travel board, thought here would be better. I'll be in New Orleans Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for Christmas and to visit some friends.
It's kind of a last minute thing so flying is out of the question. It would be $350 each way to fly. Plus driving will let me spend Saturday over on the MS Gulf Coast where I partially grew up.
But parking is just ridiculous now. The hotel I'm staying at wants $42 plus tax a night for Valet parking. No Self parking option.
Years ago I would park at the economy lot at the airport and take the Airport Shuttle in but that doesn't exist anymore. I would have to pay for a taxi or lyft/uber which would defeat the purpose.
I know I've parked at Harrah's a few trips and gotten the free parking for gambling for 30 minutes. Always felt a little uneasy leaving my car there for so long but it always worked out.
Does Harrah's still do that and is it the still the best bet to avoid paying crazy rates for parking? Any other recommendations? Or just accept it and pay the crazy valet rate at the hotel?

You can find parking garages near the French Quarter that would be $50-60 for the weekend. They have big 'Parking" signs.

Don’t leave any valuables in your car, leave the doors unlocked, and good luck with Dirty Mike and the Boys.

Park at Harrahs gamble for 30 minutes per day. Secure easy parking in a great location. Have parked there hundreds of times for all events and time periods. Never had an issue or seen a single car break-in in the past decade in that garage. Worst thing you’ll run into is the occasional puddle off piss but that’s every parking lot in the city.

What hotel? You can Probably find a close garage that is a little bit cheaper. But parking downtown is expensive

I was thinking this was still going to be the best option. Has there been any issues with car break-ins at the Harrah's lot? No way would I trust any of the generic FQ and CBD lots as I know car break-ins are common.
Obviously I know to not have any valuables visible and it's not a new car so I don't think it would attract much attention. Glad to hear Harrah's still does the free 24 hours for 30 minutes per day.

What’s your deductible on comprehensive to replace a window?

I edited my post with more context after reading OP again. Like I said- I’ve parked there hundreds of times for all events- Mardi Gras, NYE, saints games, aquarium trips, festivals in the quarter, long weekends when friends come into town, etc etc and have exclusively parked in that garage. I have never once seen a shard of broken glass on the ground nor ever had my car disturbed.
There are cameras throughout the garage, and it’s probably not too enticing for a scumbag thief to go wild in a ten story parking garage with a choke point at the exit when there are so many cars on the street level.

Just leave your car in NOLA East. It will end up there anyway.

Harrahs is now Caesars and is a good option if you plan on doing the daily gambling route. There is one caveat in that you are limited to one parking comp per 24 hour period. I had an issue one time when I went late one night and printed my ticket and went back the next day and couldn’t print another voucher.
Now I am not worried now that I have gambled enough that I am Caesars Rewards Diamond so now I can get free valet too.

A soup kitchen is going to happen. Your beautiful car is going to be turned into a nightmare.

I use the spothero app when parking in New Orleans. You can definitely find something cheaper than the hotel garage. I feel like the "free voucher" would cost more, but I am not a casino person.

How does this work? I’ll be staying in NOLA in a few weeks for a couple of days, and my hotel is right by Caesars, so this sounds like the go to for me. I’ll be arriving late on a Friday night, so sounds like I’d have a similar situation to you.

The airport is the first thing that comes to mind but if you don’t like that idea, try those lots near the convention center that specialize in cruise ship passenger parking.

Print Clergy on a large paper and put it in your front window. Park in front of any church or hospital. If you add a cross or star it fools them everytime.
