Has anybody ever worked the schedule? If so, how was it? We have no kids.

You mean 7 on 7 drills, but at night?

I work 7 on 7 off rotating nights / days…. Best schedule I’ve ever worked. BUT I came from the 3-2-2-3, DuPont, 5-2-2-5 and 21-6. It’s the best schedule I’ve had and it isn’t close. There no way I’d work a normal 5 day work week again….there just something about having week days off.

What was your NIL deal that was in place?

I have. I found it better than 3 on 2 off, then 2 on 3 off. I also worked 4 on 2 off then switch to nights and 4 on 2 off. I also worked 7-1/2 years of straight nights which sucked but back then jobs were scarce and you did what you had to do.

You should work the other 7 nights and donate it to the NIL fund.

You take years off of your life working the night shift....do what you must or have to do. But soon as you can or come up with a plan to get off the night shift asap.

7 on 7 off ain’t bad
The best I’ve worked is is 8 on 6 off
But the 7’s is good too

I will add… the night shift can throw a kink in your off days. Tough on body changing sleep schedule every 7 days

No brainer if you don't have kids.
I've done the 5/2/2/5.
Nice only burning 2 days of pto and getting 9 days off. Very easy to travel
Recently switched to 8-5 M-F now that we have 2 kids.
Can get up and lift from 5-7 and still be home at 5:15 every evening

I did it for over 10 years with kids. I think it can be a real advantage. The 7 days off are great, you can be a really involved parent. The 7 nights working you are mostly gone when they are asleep (assuming another parent is home with them obviously) and mostly asleep during school hours. You can always miss sleep when important things come up.
My suggestions are have a very dark room, keep it cool. Take benadryl or other sleep aid as needed to get 7-8 hours of sleep. On the morning you work off, sleep till noon and force yourself out of bed. Try and get back on normal schedule for time off.
It is hard on the body, but doable. Do not forgo exercise and watch your diet carefully.

Sounds better than being on the road for >20days per month like I was for 15 years.

I did shift work, out of town work for years.
Destroyed my relationships.
I like being with my family at night. No thanks

That's the shift I work. Been doing it for 20 years. The 7 off are fantastic.
Best advice: On the morning you get off for your 7 off sleep for about 2 - 3 hours and make yourself get out of bed. That way you sleep patterns will be normal.
