For those disappointed that Civil War was not a straightforward war movie, Alex Garland has teamed up with Iraq War vet Ray Mendoza to give you what you wanted. Ray previously worked as the military/technical advisor for Civil War, The Terminal List, The Outpost, and Lone Survivor.

Starring Charles Melton, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Cosmo Jarvis, Will Poulter & Finn Bennett.

Curious if we're going to start hitting our version of the 1980s "Vietnam war was awful" era of movies now for the War on Terror.

I was disappointed because the movie sucked. Terrible writing and acting.

I think we’ve been there since The Hurt Locker.

This looks like Black Hawk Down and The Hurt Locker had a love child.

Meh.

Has there been a good War on Terror movie besides The Hurt Locker?

American Sniper and Zero Dark 30 are the others imo.

Was unimpressed with War Machine

I liked The Outpost and The Kill Team. Plus there is the HBO limited series Generation Kill that is the best of them all in my opinion.

I'm sorry, i cannot fathom an A24 movie based in reality. This trailer will be a bait and switch, 1/2 through the movie it will morph into a dream sequence that only the best acid dropping liberal arts students can even attempt to comprehend.

I will not fall for this A24.

There was no bait and switch with Civil War. It was basically a road trip movie.

This movie looks pretty good. The AR-15 military cloners on Reddit seemed to be pretty impressed with the overall set pieces from the camo patterns down to the actual equipment they’re all using. That probably doesn’t mean a whole lot to those here though.

This looks awesome, and definitely with obvious comparisons to Black Hawk Down, which was also awesome.

I'll definitely check this one out. Should be interesting that it's in real time too.

My only nitpick is that the guys at the beginning of the trailer are too clean.

This is real enough it will trigger some Iraq vets. The language is right. The attitudes are right. The sounds are right.

On the other hand, you guys can just watch Restrepo. That's the real thing.

But, this does look very faithful to the average combat troop's experience in Iraq. It even tweaked me a little and I was never on the street like that.
