I’ve mentioned on here before I have a thing about not rewatching movies very often. That way they feel fresh when I watch them again. Maybe I’m somewhere different in life and appreciate it in a new way or whatever.

So for some of my favorite movies growing up, it’s been well over a decade since I’ve seen them.

So in 2025, I’m going to watch a bunch of older action movies. My initial list is below of what I’ll be thinking about. Won’t make it to all of these obviously. And if something is missing, probably because I’ve seen it rather recently

Would love for some reminders of what to be watching.

Here’s the general early thoughts

The Rock
Face Off
Con Air
Patriot Games
Clear and Present Danger
Robo-Cop
Terminator
Terminator 2
Total Recall
Demolition Man
Tremors
Tremors 2
Rocketeer
Three Musketeers
Man in the Iron Mask
Golden Eye
Mortal Kombat
Species
Congo
Dragon Heart
Ghost In the Darkness
Broken Arrow
Reign of Fire
The Quest
Men In Black
The Volcano
The Edge
Saving Private Ryan
Longest Day
Gettysburg
Gods and Generals
Platoon
A Bridge Too Far
The Patriot
Deep Blue Sea
Mystery Men
Payback
Mimic
Lethal Weapon
Alien Series (1-4)
Kull the Conqueror
Scarface
6th Day
Titain A.E.
Shanghai Noon
Kill Bill 1/2
Minority Report
The Bourne Trilogy

Predator is a good one to add. Also, Abyss.

Ooo I need to watch that one again. Been a while. One of my favorites when I was a kid.

Predator I saw in 2020. Still to recent. I’m a huge predator fan.

Abyss I’m a like conflicted. I just saw it recently for the first time but only saw like half the movie. I kinda know what happens so not hugely driven to finish it. I probably will

Blood sport I think I watched last year. Rocky 4 I’ve seen too much. Going to still give it a few years. I might have Rocky 4’d an entire lifetime’s worth.

Definitely will add Running Man

Squeeze in some Van Damme flicks and Seagal’s “Out For Justice.”

The Quest and Legionnaire certainly.
I probably haven’t seen Time Cop since I was 10 so probably that.

Maybe Universal Soldier and The Replicant.

Save yourself alot of trouble. Watch Stone Cold. It's far & away the greatest action movie of all-time. There isn't even a close runner-up.

If it’s his Van Dammedest you want, then you have to have Hard Target. lionheart isn’t bad either. You mentioned Time Cop, which is the best movie he was in, but not the “best Van Damme movie”

Speaking of HT, I’d also suggest throwing in Ice-T’s surviving the game…which leads me to Trespass and Ricochet. All three have some pretty good supporting casts too.

I didn’t see “Big Trouble in Little China” listed…I guess it’s an action comedy.

Commando is probably the most “Ahhhrrr-nold” movie of them all and one of my favorites.

Ole Chuck Norris like Invasion USA, Delta Force or Missing in Action…maybe even the Octogon or Good Guys Wear Black.

Seagal in Under Seige, or one of his earlier movies.

Passenger 57 and Executive Decision were two dollar movie favorite.

Stallone in Cobra and Demolition Man…

I’ll just reply to myself and throw in Rumble in the Bronx, and Super Cop, as well as some of the other pre-Rush Hour Jackie Chan films.

If you don't like rewatching older movies, why not watch some newer ones. I'll give you a list of great action movies you probably haven't seen but should. All of these came out in the last 20 years or so.

Ip Man 1-3
The Raid 1 & 2
Ong Bak 1-3
Undisputed 2 & 3
Ninja 2
Avengement
The Debt Collectors
Accident Man
Chocolate
The Redeemer
Savage Dog

You have some good Scott Adkins movies but left off Ip Man 4.

I think we have similar tastes. Try Kill Zone 1&2.

Completely awesome movie that gets a paltry fraction of the attention and love it deserves. I saw it in theaters and it was badass.

I assume The Volcano = Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones?

My kids absolutely love this movie. It still holds up pretty damn well in the effects department for the most part.

I left off Ip Man 4 because it wasn't very good. Same reason I left off Undisputed 4.

I will do operation condor (whichever one takes place in the Sahara). The one scene

The scene where the blonde girl peed in front of Jackie unlocked a fetish way too young for me
