I like daylight savings time. It gives me extra time to fish in the evening after work. With regular time the sun will be coming up at 4:00 am in the middle of summer.

I am pretty sure he means that we are going to eliminate standard time and switch to DST year-round.

and with DST year round it would be dark until 8 AM from late DEC thru FEB.

Standard time is superior. You can fish in the summer when the days are longer.

But it won’t be regular (standard) time. The new time would be permanent DST. The thing being eliminated is the change between the two.

I’ve never heard a rational argument for keeping Daylight Savings Time.

Split the hour in half and call it a day.

If the world is total chaos that can be fixed in a day, we have bigger issues.

This is what we need. When we set our clocks ahead on March 9, 2025 leave them there for good. I hate it getting dark at 5:00 in the winter and I don't mind going to work as the sun rises.

I don't know about that. Studies show that keeping standard time year round is better for people's health. Having daylight saving year round would be a bad option for a lot of people living near the time zones lines.

quote:

Would permanent standard time be a better option? While summer sunrises would be incredibly early – 4 to 4:30 a.m. in some northern cities – under a year-round standard time regime, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) said this would actually be better for our health than permanent daylight saving time.

"Current evidence best supports the adoption of year-round standard time, which aligns best with human circadian biology and provides distinct benefits for public health and safety," the AASM wrote in a position statement opposing daylight saving time.

Its statement goes on to say that daylight saving time causes the natural light/dark cycle to be delayed by an hour, which results in a misalignment of your circadian rhythm. This can be linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome and other health risks, according to the AASM.

Good, I hate daylight savings time. It's not even needed as the daylight hours get longer naturally that time of year.

That better not be what he's meaning or I'll have to withdraw my vote for him. I want my daylight in the morning not in the evening.

I think it's awesome. I love it being dark and quite when I get home from work and not having to hear noisy neighbors outside obsessing over their yards, no screaming kids or barking dogs. Plus it's not dark outside when I wake up.

I don't need daylight at eight o'clock in the evening I need daylight at six o'clock in the morning.

I prefer standard time. I actually don’t mind the current system getting an extra hour in the summer. But in the winter I’m fine with standard time.
