Elkmont jogger brutally attacked by three dogs, community rallies to help

quote:

His family says he’s working on his doctorate and jogs nearly 10 miles every day after going to work at a troubled youth facility in Elkmont. But it was Wednesday’s jog that would send him to Huntsville Hospital.

“Dogs were dragging a man across the road just dragging him by his shoulders and his neck and his head and dragging him,” Alan Smith, a witness said. “Almost looked like he was unconscious just because he was limp.”

Smith spotted the attack by what he says were two pit bulls and a cane corso that each weighed close to 200 lbs.

quote:

Smith said the owner stood by panicking, trying to pull her dogs away but they wouldn’t budge. Eventually, she grabbed a gun, asking the strangers to shoot them, but the damage was already done.

“I could see from his knee to his ankle everything inside,” Smith said. “I mean his thighs were just eaten to pieces.”

I had a run in recently with a neighbor's Pit that got out. Could have gotten bad. I was 200% in favor of Pit Genocide prior, now I'm at 2000%.

200 lb pit bulls?

Cane Corsos are a decent bit bigger than pits and thats twice the size of a normal Cane Corso

ETA: 200 lbs for the 3 dogs combined is probably in the ball park though

Owner should spend years in prison.

How does this part work? Did she have a gun and just waited to pull it out? Are guns just stationed randomly throughout Elkmont?

ETA: No way each dog weighed close to 200 lbs.

The law is pretty clear. Especially if it results in a death it is negligent homicide

What we have here is people who have no respect for other humans. They believe their rights are absolute no matter the harm it may cause others.
It use to be that rights and freedoms were appreciated and others were respected so people could co-exist within a generally safe environment. Now it’s entitlement for me and frick everyone else.

Solution: rescind the cruel and unusual punishment clause and this dog owner gets locked up for the rest of their life and not in some cushy prison. That or the dog owner can choose to keep their freedom and insert their own leg into a wood chipper. They’ll also need to be responsible for their own care after.

If you’re running or exercising outside, you should always carry a knife at minimum to defend yourself

Even weirder that she had a gun, but handed it to another person to shoot.

Those dogs were brutal.

quote:

“If he covered his face with his arm, they’d pull his arm away,” Smith said. “It didn’t phase them. Whenever we would hit the dogs they would keep going at him, or they would come back at us and try to get us. They were biting the metal ends of the shovel and the crowbar.”

Is a Cane Corso in the same family as a Presa Canario?

My uncle had a Presa Canario and he also raised buffalo to breed for beefalo meat. The dog killed his buffalo bull by latching onto its neck. He then killed two more buffalo heifers, a few neighboring dogs and nearly killed the UPS man. The only good thing it did was take out some coyotes from time to time.

My uncle finally got smart and disposed of the dog. He wanted a guard dog because he has a large ranch in BFE and had issues with people trespassing but instead, he got a liability

So this lady is just sitting there with a gun in her hand watching her dogs try to murder someone? Lock her arse up.

There's a large house on Lake Concordia where the owners let their 3 Cane Corsos out whenever they see someone fishing (from a boat) out in front of their property.

To see those three huge demonic looking dogs come charging from the house to the edge of the water is unnerving. You don't know if they are going to stop or come into the water and attempt to get in your boat to try to attack.

I despise those owners as well as their Corsos.

I still remember when a pit off leash attacked my lab when I was walking her. I beat the ever living shite out of that dog before it let go. Fortunately it was all relatively superficial but I was kicking to kill/maim it and it still held on. Felt the air go completely out of it and still wouldn’t let go. Was wild and pretty scary.

Someone should call the LDWF on the owners because in Louisiana it is illegal to harass or intimidate anglers who are lawfully fishing in public waters.
