Almost 44 y/o, I work out (nearly) daily but nothing over the top... strength training and light cardio. Eat a banana nearly every morning due to the cramps, but they're getting worse.

If I stretch the wrong way, I can get cramps in just about any muscle, like the ones across my rib cage (that hurts), lower quads (which turns into hamstring cramps when I try to stretch the quad), triceps, biceps, you name it.

Anyone dealt with that? Should I get a blood panel done? I'm quite hydrated, definitely eat way too much salt (sunflower seeds several times throughout the day).

I'm pretty lost on what is causing the cramps.

Maybe eat more good salt (Celtic or some other mineral salt).
Eat more red meat
Try drinking more electrolytes (I use Ultima Powder once or twice a day)

If you’re well hydrated, it’s probably electrolyte imbalances. That’s just my guess.

Sounds like you aren't as hydrated as you think. You are probably lacking electrolytes. One banana doesn't cut it.

Try Redmond's Relyte. One of the best hydration powders on the market. The unflavored one as 1,000mg of sodium plus the other essential electrolytes. They flavored ones have around 800mg.

5 gallons of H2O per day minimum. Plus electrolytes.

I do not. I take a biologic, meloxicam and a multivitamin.

Protein and creatinine too.

On prednisone right now for about tendinitis and knee pain.

Don't do this. That's probably way too much water. You can die from too much water (Hyponatremia). Too much water will deplete your body of electrolytes'

This. I would say try 1 gallon of water a day. Mix some electrolytes in with some of it. I usually go with Nuun that I get off of Amazon.

Hope this helps.

I use Redmond real salt and add just a bit to every bottle I drink. Cramps have never came back.

I know some worry about sodium intake but your body needs sodium to function. The daily recommended allowance is a joke, especially if you train.

Did you ask your doctor when you got the prednisone rx? Need labs and a doctor opinion, especially with your likely autoimmune disease. Could be electrolytes, iron deficiency, thyroid m/parathyroid issues.

Adding salt to my gym water helped a bunch. My cramping gets bad when cutting and hard workouts. Starts with me feet and abs.
