How does one actually purchase 2026 World Cup tickets?

Dad always wanted to go to one in his life time and since it’s in America seems like an easy way to go watch one. Went to the site, second hand sites, etc and no clear direction on how.
1. How do you actually buy them from FIFA?
2. What happens if ticket you bought says tbd:tbd? Do you get no choice in teams?

How could a ticket possibly have teams on them at this point? Hell, the European qualification process hasn't even started yet. There is essentially no way to get tickets to a specific matchup until much later after the draw has been made, which IIRC is usually the December before the tournament so December 2025.

Tickets go on sale from FIFA in December 2025. So you have a year to wait.

So far only the host countries (USA, Mexico, Canada) have there group stage schedules set. The US will play 2 in Los Angeles and 1 Seattle out of Group D. You can see it here: World Cup Match Schedule
You can at least see the dates and locations.

Hate that all three games are on the west coast. Guess it makes sense for the teams travel but it really sucks for 3/4 of the country.

Not only are all 3 group matches on the west coast but if the US wins the group their round of 32, round of 16, and quarterfinal matches are on the west coast.
The US wouldn't play a game not on the west coast until playing in Jerryworld in the semis.

This is probably terrible to say (and I am a US fan obviously), but I rather my ticket goes to see some other teams, like a UEFA vs CONMEBOL matchup. Sorry but I can go see the US any given time.
Of course, what would happen if I were to drop hundreds of dollars on a ticket would be getting Switzerland vs Cameroon or something.

I was able to get them directly from FIFA in 1994 about a year in advance. Went to 3 group stage games in Orlando and had the time of my life.
I'd like to think I'll get them rather easily in 2026. With US Soccer moving to Atlanta and me being involved with them through assigning youth soccer tournaments in the metro area, I'd like to think I'll make enough connections to get my hands on some.

I remember dealing with this during the 2018 World Cup. The FIFA website opened a lottery-style ticket window months in advance, and it was pretty stressful trying to secure specific matches. You basically applied for tickets and hoped you got lucky. The TBD:TBD thing is normal. It means you might get a match at a certain stadium and date, but the teams aren’t decided until after the draw. That’s how I ended up seeing Sweden vs South Korea in Nizhny, which was fun, just not what I expected.
For the resale side of things or closer to match day, I’ve been checking out places like https://www.seatpin.com/. They usually have listings show up after the official phase and cover a bunch of international matches.

That’s the route you need to go if you don’t want to pay 6x FV
It’s hilarious seeing tickets that are not even out yet for sale on the secondary market for $2000+
Will be interesting if FIFA will try and combat the crazy ticket inflation of prices we see here compared to the rest of the world
Hopefully put measures in place that can black list tickets sold way over FV

Well, given the FACT/REALITY that FIFA is one of the most corrupt world-wide organizations...I highly doubt they give a rats arse about anything other than $ and power ! What the average soccer fan cares about...is the farthest away thing which concerns that criminal organization !

Even though you are correct FIFA is corrupt
They are very good about fighting vs inane ticket prices to protect fans
They actively work with UEFA and countries football associations
But as we know America is a different beast when it comes to the cost of attending live sports.

They aren’t on sale yet.
Rt now you can purchase club World Cup tickets. That’s through Ticketmaster.
So my assumption is it will be the same.
If you click the link to purchase tickets on the fifa website, it sends you to Ticketmaster.

USMNT announced a couple of games vs Korea and Japan. Might make the hike up to NY/NJ for the Korea game.

I went to Dallas, same thing, though.
