Or give them nothing. Just leave. This NATO crap is what caused the Russians to invade in the first place. And with the Russians losing their only base into the Mediterranean (in Syria) they may not take kindly to this.

I guess I am not following. It's not something we can unilaterally do. And having them join, at least on paper, obligates European allies to enter a hot war with Russia.
Sure, they'll sit back and watch us do it...and pay for it, but I can't see the major Western Euro powers jumping into the middle of the Russian/Ukrainian war.

Biden can't really do this on his own either. Turkey, Hungary, Slovakia, and probably others are solid no votes on this.

No but the invitation by a U.S. President to join NATO may be seen as something that cannot be undone by an incoming President... It would also be seen as an escalation by Russia...
