I admit years ago I called Jenny McCarthy nuts for saying vaccines caused autism in her child and writing a book about it but I feel we will owe her an apology one day when the truth comes out.

I’ve lost count of how many of my fellow GenXexers who had babies with autism.
I didn’t know anyone with autism till I was an adult.

If you want to break it down ok. Perhaps "I and many others thought..." would be correct. If I start a post saying " I did this and we all need to correct it" seems a bit off does it not?

True, but they have shown a pattern to be against anything that Trump supports, unless the politics of it overwhelm them, like illegal immigration did.
This is what I think will happen. Liberals will pillory Trump on this, even though, as you point out, it is a traditionally liberal issue. Then, as it turns out to yield positive things, they will co-opt it like they kept Trump’s China tariffs.

Truth. I have three just on my street.
They say “we’re just diagnosing it more” but I don’t remember any kids with autism symptoms when I was young and funny thing, today you see lots of kids with autism but you know what you don’t see? Adults with autism.
So what happened to all those undiagnosed autistic kids from 60/50/40 years ago?
