Anyone else hear that Jeff Bezos has interest in purchasing the Chicago Bears?

They said this for like a decade with him and Washington
I think it’s just good business for the sellers to have people think the richest person in the world is interested in buying

It would be cheaper and a lot more fun to “buy” a college team. Why deal with the hassle of rules and salary caps.

I guess it doesn't matter if a prospective owner has absolutely no attachment to the city where a franchise resides or any prior interest in the franchise.

We're at the point where only a handful of people can afford NFL franchises. Just be thankful we don't have oil sheiks buying.....yet.

Imagine one of the richest people in the world just buying every 5-star recruit.

They are horrible owners so would be good for one of the leagues teams in a big market

This is true. And I thought it would actually be happening when he bought the WaPo and built Amazon's 2nd HQ less than a mile from the Pentagon.

What is the Bear's purchase value?

Bezos should do this with Princeton, he'd get them to the P4 in under a decade.

No way. NFL owners make money hand over fist. College donors have nothing tangible at the end of the day.

The McCaskey’s have been terrible owners for years. In terms of nostalgia and family ownership, id hate to see someone else take ownership, but a as a Bears fan that wants to see a winning product on the field I’d welcome new owners willing to make it happen.

Any conflict of interest there with Amazon owning the rights to Thursday night football? I'm not sure what the conflict would be but seems like it could potentially be one.

What’s the fun in NOT competing at the highest level

The elwd owner is like 100yrs old. It's just like the Lions old Ford lady. Once she's out of the way, the organization could improve but they are largely thought of as one of. If not the worst owners in the NFL.
They're also dirt cheap. They even fly coaches out for interviews in Coach.
They also have the GM answering to Kevin Warren, who is a business guy, not a football ops guy.its a shot show. Its basically Jerry Jones without the flash, spending and facilities.

Daniel Snyder bought the Redskins for $800 million in 1999.
He ran the team into the ground, drove off a significant portion of their fanbase, changed their name, and then sold the team for over $6 billion in 2023.
You can “rent” a college team and burn through some money, but you will never get that type of return on an investment.

The sad thing is that you probably actually believe the nonsense you spewed.
