This will all die down over time. These deep pocket dudes are not gonna keep forking money over and lose. An its gonna happen, TAM, Ole Miss, Bama, Thats just the SEC. In the mean time institute contracts 3 years 4th option. That kills the portal you take the money your stuck if you suck the school is screwed. If not college football is done.

The Michigan donor paying $10 million is like me paying $50. This wont hurt him one bit

Yeah, save for Ole Miss, nothing is gonna slow down Texas, A&M, and Bama. The first 2 have endless alumni w/ deep pockets and Bama football is God for most in that state/ties to that school.

The guy who bought Underwood could pay the entire team 2 million a year for 20 years and still be a billionaire.

The shite will never end until rules are put in place.
People wanted players to get paid now this what it’s become.

Wrong. Billionaires donating a few million here and there is like you and I donating $50 or $100 every month to tiger foundations. It was a good run for LSU but it’s over. We cannot land the true top end talent in the NIL era to contend for National championships.

You can’t expect the few whales LSU has (who are aging) to continually foot the bill for new buyouts, facilities and 17year olds with little to no ROI.

Things we hear on the rant that are retarded:

1) Implement a "salary cap" despite there not being any salaries
2) NIL money will "die down" "eventually" despite signs it's only getting worse
3) We need to match every offer every recruit gets while at the same time lamenting how little money LSU has

One thing about billionaires bankrolling things like NIL, they'll stop and yank the rug out from under it at any time just to show they can.

What is Michigan going to do when Ellison gets bored and moves on to something else?

Of all the dumb things people say about NIL, this is the dumbest. These dudes are not spending their cash with the expectation of getting a monetary ROI - they’re spending their cash because they’re fans. Unless you think rich guys putting up money to help their favorite CFB program are gonna stop being fans?

By your logic, no team would ever be able to find the money to buy out a coach’s contract - because the last time those guys put money up it didn’t work out.

Also: who says they’re gonna lose? Last time I checked, the programs that have billionaires throwing down cash to buy crazy recruiting classes are having their most successful stretches in a decade or more. You really think the guys bankrolling Texas and Oregon and Miami and UGA are looking at the program and saying “damn, this sure isnt working”?

I’m convinced that 75% of people just don’t even know what this means

Well technically there was a ruling that collectives could not count as a tax write off. I am sure there are ways around it, but that was a big deal over the summer.

You're absolutely right. Most of the people bankrolling these NIL deals don't expect a monetary return. Their return on their money is seeing the kid play, then bragging to their friends that they're responsible for the team's success.

It's sort of a Jerry Jones complex. Jerry wants the Cowboys to win, but he especially wants everyone to know HE'S the reason they won.

We can't keep up with the big money boys .. College football is more or less done for as far as I can see. Not ever going to be what we have seen in the past. I will keep my season tickets and if my kids don't want them I will sell to the folks who will pay the most.
