Which of these 3 offer a combination of: good public schools, low crime, lowest COL, and family friendly.

We’re not OT ballers so private school ain’t happening. Public schools is what we are eyeing.

If you want to go Public school route - Mandeville or Madisonville.

All are gross. Go West to Texas for excellent public schools

Which one isn’t in Louisiana? Go with that one.

Public schools would be best in Mandeville, or the coast. Covington public ain’t great

I have lived in all three places, and I would rank them thus:

1. MS Gulf Coast
2. Covington
3. Mandeville

I know Mandeville has its virtues, but I really find it depressing. I was there most of last week, and it's just so claustrophobic now. There are people everywhere, all over, all the time, and this is coming from someone who lives in Atlanta. I don't think I saw one pedestrian or even a jogger the whole time I was there. People there don't go outside unless they're walking to their Ford Raptor or whatever.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast absolutely fricking blows. No one should live there under any circumstances unless you like meth, gnats, and hurricanes.

MS Gulf Coast.

If you want to be close to New Orleans then I'd choose a location north of I-10 (Kiln, etc). if you don't care about flood insurance then BSL and Pass Christian are good.

If you don't mind being ~1.5 hours away from New Orleans, then Ocean Springs is good. If you preferred north of i-10 in this area, then go with northern D'Iberville/White Plains/Saucier.

BSL (Coastal Mississippi) is a great spot for:
quote:

low crime and family friendly

Amazing for those.

Not amazing for:
quote:

good public schools and lowest COL

But it’s worth it.

Private is co-ed K-6th then all-girls / all-boys 7th-12th. But if you bite the COL bullet and buy a house downtown they can literally walk to school.
