I’m jealous of boomers because they got to do stuff like this and then go buy a house for 10k that’s now worth a million

Of course their millenial kids never got to do anything like this because we might get kidnapped

Back in 2007 or 2008, I remember walking in a bathroom and a guy was doing cocaine off a pocket knife blade. Not sure how he managed to keep it all dry considering he was covered in “foam”.

Went to a bachelor party in PCB, the groom to be got hammered and starting crying on the edge of that pool, because he was getting married.

I have stayed in that hotel in the background. I believe it was called the Moondrifter. Good times back in the day.

The real partying at night was done on the beach right behind La Vela.

According to their Wikipedia Page:
quote:

From the sinking of the original support pilings in the summer of 1984, LaVela (as it was first known) was constructed in 54 days culminating in a Grand Opening on Labor Day 1984, and an opening evening concert by John Prine.

Nothing makes me think of 80's/90's MTV Spring Break excess, booze, coke, titties, etc like John Prine. And I love John Prine. I just can't even imagine that.

"And now for the wet t-shirt contest, please welcome John Prine with his new hit tune "Dear Abby"!!!"

Yep, the moondrifter

I've done Ironman Florida a half dozen times and before they changed the course, we would run right by La Vela.

There's a funny photo of me starting the run, stopping to kiss her and my daughter as they stood next to my mom, grandmother and in-laws and that sign is in the background.

Can't say I ever imagined than moment back in 1995.

I was there bro. You gave me chill’s from that pic. Man we had a good time.
Back when XTC was good , not a lot of police hate. Just a bunch of white folks having a really really good time.

Was popping collars and hitting that place about a week after it opened.

Being stationed at Tyndall from ‘84 to ‘86 really sucked for a 21 yr old.

Most of my HS crew stayed at The Summit next door to Club La Vela in 1987. That was a wild week.
