As usual, his weight has been a hot topic in the NBA world, as many people tend to say what they think is better for the former No. 1 overall pick. Former New Orleans Pelicans and LA Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins joined FanDuel TV's "Run It Back" on Wednesday to talk about Williamson.
Cousins said that the Pelicans should be more strict with Zion Williamson's weight issues and start fining him whenever he's in bad shape.
quote:

"This has been a concern since he's come in, it's been a concern every single season," Cousins said. "If I'm the organization, we gon' kinda do the old school, Miami style. You come in at a certain weight or body fat that isn't acceptable for the team and put you in a place to flourish and be healthy, we start fining you.
quote:

"'Cause this is an issue that they're dealing with every single year, and obviously, this is something he can't handle on his own and professionally, he struggles. So it's time to start adding a little more pressure to him and I think this should have happened two or three seasons [ago]."
Contrary to DeMarcus Cousins, ESPN writer Tim MacMahon had a more radical approach to Zion Williamson's issues. During the latest episode of Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective, MacMahon suggested that New Orleans cut Williamson
quote:

"Scenario A, the preferable scenario, is trade him and get value for him," said MacMahon. "I think that's going to be extremely difficult to do given his injury history, given the fact that he looked far less explosive than he had been in the past in the little bit that he played this year. If you look at his rim-finishing numbers they are mediocre," he said.
You know it’s bad when DC says you’re fat and don’t hustle

Say what you want about DC, but he A) at one point was the leader/alpha of our team B) Had better career highs than Zion as a Pel and C)Kind of played his arse off sometimes despite his size (I think he actually lost weight the 1 offseason he was here).

I also remember him playing either 48 or 53 mins in a game for us one night. He also embraced the city and wanted to be here. Obviously the injury and Dell Demps relationship soured that.

All that to say, I look at DC’s time here much more fondly than any period that Zion has been here.

yea if that doesn’t happen I think we turn into a serious contender for a couple year run. Everything since then save a few weeks here and there has been miserable

If Boogie doesn't tear his achilles (keep in mind, he tore it a game in which we beat the red hot Rockets and looked like a legit playoff contender), we probably finish higher than the sixth seed, avoid GSW in the second round and possibly make a WCF run (where we get swept by GSW), but AD likely re-signs.

Not sure what happens, but that team finishes as the 3 seed, who we beat anyway. The interesting part comes in whether or not Boogie/AD are enough of a matchup problem in a 7 game series to beat the Warriors or Houston.

I’d say no, solely because the 3-point shooting was lacking from a volume stand point outside of Darius Miller. But still, that was the best team we’ve ever had.

They were making the Mirotic trade either way so if you have all three of them, two on the court at a time, the 3 point volume might be there enough to complement the size where you cause serious problems.

Don't discount mirotic making life easier for ad and cousins from a spacing standpoint.

Let's say cousins signs a max, still healthy, and ad wants out - the Ingram package raises an eyebrow.

Going up for a free throw rebound late in the fourth quarter. That memory is seared into my brain as one of the most impactful plays in NOLA sports history.

The worst part about it was that AD and DC were dominating houston that whole game. It was the most complete game the 2 of them had played together, and it felt like they had finally figured it out.

Such a high to such a low. Being a pels fan is being the eternal icarus.

He didn’t want to be traded at all, bc his best shot at a huge contract was with his original team due to cba rules.

However, once he got here. He was playing with 2 Kentucky Wildcats (AD and Rondo). He also went to Mardi Gras and rode in a parade and put underwear on his head. He also, was only 2 hours away from his hometown and he repeatedly talked about how much he liked that aspect.

He 100000% wanted to be here more than Zion has at any point here.
