Scoured the OT for a thread on Rayne but couldn't find anything - not sure if that is a good or bad sign. It looks like a town in decline, but is it possible it gets pulled in to the growth of the Lafayette urban sprawl and makes a comeback?

I'm aware of the frogs, murals, festivals and fights. What else should I know about Rayne?

I hooked up with a girl from Rayne who was an absolute freak. It was so much fun. I'm glad that was a short term thing.

That's all I got.

There's a great vintage record store there.

I knew a girl from Rayne in my PT school class in St Aug(a lot of us from Louisiana go there historically). Her entire room had frog shite in it. She was one of the coolest girls in our class and Rayne seemed like the greatest place in the US from the way she described it. All I got.

There's a Bruce Robison song about it.

It seems like it's too far from Lafayette for that.

It's does have the advantage of being accessible because it's right on the interstate.

Probably so but that'll be 15+ years down the line I'd imagine. With Youngsville/Broussard ever expanding and getting more expensive It seems Scott has started to see some growth and there's more and more homes popping up even further west in Mire. So eventually that growth will one day get to Rayne. You can still pick up houses/properties for modest prices on the outskirts/in the country if you're ok with ~20-45 minute commute to Lafayette depending on what side of town you're trying to get to.

As for the town there's not really much there worth mentioning, Gabes, Nonc Kevs, Chef Roys is decent stuff.

If Rayne made a comeback and was somehow pulled into the Lafayette growth, I would move there.

Acadia parish baw here, Rayne is trashier than Crowley but not as trashy as Church Point. I’d look at Robert’s Cove/Branch/Mire. All north of town and still close to i10. Get ready to learn about crawfish ponds and rice fields

Seems to be declining more slowly than other small towns in LA. Proximity to Lafayette and being on i10 helps I guess. Probably less taxes in Acadia parish compared to Laffy as well Id reckon

Church Point

I associate Rayne with Church Point because of the interstate exit sign. Is Church Point where we had baw-paw and the incest story?
