How can we set aside the Russians? Since Trump's victory and his calls for Ukraine and Russia to make peace, Russia has sent thousands of North Koreans into the war, increased its bombing of Ukrainian civilians, claimed to be the reason Trump won, claimed that Trump is their puppet, and released nude pictures of Trump's wife. Russia is the one responsible for the escalation not the USA or Ukraine.

I think this is pretty simple. If they make a big mess in the last few weeks of the term, it's Trump's mess to clean up for another few years. They hope he will take the blame for it and lose a lot of seats in 2026 and the negativity extends to JD in 2028.

ETA: Damn it is hard to find the posts. Any search with the words Russia and puppet results in tons of posts from liberals here in America. I can't find the post that I saw over the weekend but here are some others that should be insulting to Trump, his voters, and every American.

That is exactly why I do not think Covid was an accidental lab leak. There are too many coincidental factors but the one factor that they never considered was independent media in 2024 which bit them in the arse HARD

I suspect this approach was a big topic of conversation between Biden and Trump last week. Trump cannot be seen providing further support to Ukraine, but I don't think he wants them run over either. I'm guessing he told Biden he would not pushback if Biden allowed Ukraine to escalate a bit to strengthen their hand at the negotiating table.

What is the evidence that he has respected any of them?
Like it or not, Putin invaded Ukraine when Obama and Biden were in office. Perhaps it is a coincidence that he took a 4-year hiatus from his nefarious plan to take back the Russian Empire during the Trump I, but I doubt it.
This escalation is not driven by Putin in anticipation of a weak or friendly Trump.
