Let’s say Boise wins out and wins WAC. (Edit: Mt. West )

For this scenario, let’s say Army beats ND and Tulane and is undefeated.

Are Boise and Army ranked higher than Colorado/BYU?

Boise would be 4th conference champ. Army 5th. Big 12 left out?

Colorado isn't getting left out if they win out.

I think Colorado would have to be left out. Arizona State could still win the Big 12. Beat BYU and Arizona and they’re in the championship game I’m pretty sure.

Yep.

A Colorado Big 12 champ isn't being left out.

A ASU Big 12 champ absolutely could be in that scenario.

Miami is losing at Syracuse so it might be the ACC left out if Colorodo wins out.

They'll just jump the Big 12 champ up into position.

Doesn’t their champion have an auto bid?

SEC

Yes. OP can't happen.

Heck, if BYU and Colorado lose, Tulane/army move ahead of them. Big 12 out.
It’s not that outrageous. There’s no real power team in the Big12.
I suspect Colorado wins out though.
ACC could lose out too. SMU and Clemson lose a game and then Miami loses in the Conference championship.

there are zero guaranteed bids for any conference. The language is top 5 conference champs get a bid and top 4 get the byes. That’s the only guarantee.

You’d probably have 6 conference champs in the top 12 in that scenario, so none of them are left out.

Top 5 ranked champs are guaranteed a spot, but its not limited to 5 if more than that are in the top 12

An undefeated army with a win over ND not being ahead of a two loss Colorado would make ZERO sense

I mean that would be far better than Penn state who is currently above Colorado

It's not out of the realm of possibility that Boise State and Tulane/Army finish higher than the Big 12 champion.

Could Boise State and Tulane both make the CFP?

Tulane might have a shot at a first round bye, but that would probably require Arizona State winning the Big 12 and even that may not be enough. Boise probably has to lose for Tulane to get in and of course Tulane has to win out.

Is it possible? Yes.

It is very very unlikely. Both Tulane and Boise would have to finish ahead of the Big 12 winner in the final rankings.

So ACC is definitely in even after Miami loses to Syracuse?
