All these pre-snap penalties. He probably has more than Chester now and that's saying something. Bout sick of seeing that too every week!

Several players have been trying really hard to play themselves out of the 1st Round

One of the issues is getting the play and Nuss making the checks. It takes too long. They can’t sit there forever. I wish we ran an up tempo offense.

We have some real timing issues with Nuss and reads, I feel we have Sloan and Kelly in his ear too much and it is just making things herky jerky. There is an expected rhythm and it seems we are not in it. I think everyone is pressing.

It was, but Jayden didn't need to make many protection changes because of his elite athleticism out of a broken pocket. Nuss gains an extra chromosome when the pocket isn't clean.

They need to be in his ear bc he is a turnover machine.
He is trying to play the instinctual gunslinger, because he can't process reads quickly enough.
His hair is on fire half the time and it is costing us games.

Cadence is one of the most important tools in football for an offensive line. Offensive tackles rely on this cadence to be consistent as this is his "cheat code", as generally, he's left to 1v1 a DE who can beat him multiple ways. Getting a head start into your back kick is extremely important on pass blocking as it allows you to gain the "advantage" by giving the tackle the distance to decipher if this is a bull rush, speed rush, stunt etc. This has to happen in milliseconds.

We keep blaming Camp, but has anyone thought that maybe Nuss has a terrible cadence, and Campbell is actually leaving on "time"?

Campbell's issue is our center is hammered dogshit and our backup left guard is a redshirt freshman left tackle playing out of position with zero playing time, starting against future NFL lineman and backers every week.

As bad as Chester is at center, we didn't have pass protection issues until our guards got hurt.

I have theorized his cadence is shaky the entire season. The frequency of these penalties are inexplainable. Problem is you’re never going to be able to prove it.

Generally putting more info in seconds before the play is probably a bad idea. You never see desperate actions play out, the best coaches and players dont panic. We seem to be in full on panic mode,.

Yep.

It's clear Sloan is calling a play with a run or pass option tagged with it, and it's Nussmeier's job at the line to sort out what to do based upon the defense. That's commonplace in the NFL. This isn't the NFL. So you are asking a 1st year QB to sort out every play and the OL to hold and wait for the checks...sometimes multiple checks before the ball is snapped. It's as if LSU is always trying to get into the perfect play and, in doing so, sometimes ends up with confusion.

I don't think LSU should go up tempo 100% of the time, but many times increasing the tempo can make things easier on the players/QB. When you increase tempo the defense is reluctant to sub. They also don't have as much time to get a play called or check in response to what the offense is doing.

It was talked about often during the Florida game that the coaches wanted to "simplify" things for Nuss and the offense. Sounds great. But it doesn't look like you are seeing much of that.

I mean, Campbell is a LT charged with stopping elite passrushers, the occasionally try and cheat the count

Chester is the fricking center. The guy who snaps the ball.
