Infidelity in a marriage

I was watching the Martha Stewart documentary on Netflix (Mrs. Feral's choice) and Martha started talking about her ex-husband's extramarital affairs. She went on about how big of an arse he was and how women should never tolerate a cheater. The interviewer stopped her and said, didn't you have an affair first? She stumbled over her words making excuses for it saying it was only a one time thing. It also came out she kissed another man while on her honeymoon. Her ex claimed he only started having affairs after she had one. He divorced her several years later after she found out he was sleeping with her assistant. He wound up getting married to the assistant.
What are y'alls thoughts on this? If your spouse cheated on you and you stayed with her would you feel justified in cheating on them? I think the whole thing is sad. Martha broke the bonds of her marriage, but that doesn't give her husband the right to cheat. It's an interesting dynamic of two people who obviously want to be together and but the trauma from the first affair is too much to get over.

No. If you choose to stay you have to forgive or else it'll never work.

No. Life’s absurd, judge yourself on how you deal with it. There’s no excuse for being a POS.

They both cheated for their own reasons
But they both cheated
Marriage over

If you got Martha’s money you get to frick whoever you want and write your own story. Doesn’t matter what’s between your legs.

I mean, it's not ideal. Once the whole monogamy thing goes out the window you don't have any ground to stand on if the other steps out.
Just end it and be done with it or accept it and live in a sham marriage

A very good friend of mine - her parents both cheated on each other. The father first, then the mother as "payback" which I thought was a paltry move.
They are still together going on 53 years so it appears they made up.
Once that trust is broken, all the superglue in the world couldn't hold the relationship together for me personally.

My thoughts are don't cheat in your relationships or marriage. If you get to that point just end it and don't hurt the other person that way.

There is a difference between (1) a one-time romp (if it is limited to that) and (2) a long-term, loving affair where not only your physical affection, but your emotional affection is withdrawn from your spouse too.
Both of them are wrong though.

I watched it too, she has always just been a selfish bitch.
Had a kid, couldnt care less. Kissed the guy at the cathedral..."didnt count, it was an emotional situation". Cheated on husband but he was the a-hole because he cheated....on and on and on.

Revenge against your spouse. What a concept.

I think this is best solved by not cheating on the spouse.

Even my teenage son said, ''she's a bitch'. It was so painfully obvious that I didn't tell him not to cuss.
