Mark is an idiot, definitely not a cottonmouth.

I’m team hognose, too.

Is a hognose the species that will roll over and play dead?

Hognose, you lucky bastard. I’ve found 1 in 58 years and had to travel to Gainesville to find it. Last month I went to Oklahoma & West Texas looking for them, but got shut out… though one of our gang from Oklahoma got a Mexican hognose while we were in Texas on the same road I was cruising.

Do I look like I’m in dire need of some skin moisturizer?

My lifer Southern hognose back in March, playing dead…

…and him with an annoyed “You done yet?” peek after 1 hour & 20 minutes of playing dead…

Have only seen two in my life. Caught one on a Kisatchie forest road. The other was swimming across Toledo Bend a few hundred yards from the dam.

Only came across one many years ago in SW Miss.

Little fellow, maybe 16 inches.

He did the classic roll over and play dead routine.

Wish I had spent a little more time with him, but had to go.

Hope he lived a good long life.

I've only seen two or three when I was kid living in Houston.

We had a drainage/bayou ditch behind our house and they would be in the brush along the ditch.

Snake is headed right toward that mud soup your dog shat out yesterday.
