Is that true? He was highly praised for his performance. It’s a depressing film about a low life people, but it was very good and the acting was top notch across the board.

Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute.

The opposite would be Creed Bratton as Creed Bratton.

I’ve heard that before. He though a movie about pornography was very crass and beneath him if I’m remembering correctly

I don’t know if he hated filming it, but George C Scott was duped into playing his character in Dr Strangelove way over the top and hated that was the final product that Kubrick used.

I heard he didn’t know it was a comedy till he went into see the movie at the opening ceremony and people were laughing. Now that seems impossible but that’s the rumor that’s been going around for years.

He would do all of scenes seriously but Kubrick got him to do one comedic take and that's the ones he kept.

Even then, Reynolds reportedly turned down the role seven times before finally accepting. There are countless behind-the-scenes anecdotes about Anderson and Reynolds clashing during the filming of Boogie Nights, with the actor randomly trying an Irish accent in defiance of the director being just one of them. After seeing a rough cut of the film, Reynolds hated it and fired his agent for recommending it.

Supposedly Brando hated the iconic Stanley Kowalski part that made him Marlon Brando.

Malcolm McDowell hated how he was edited in Caligula. Although in retrospect it seems you're probably getting what you deserve choosing to play Caligula when the guy who published Penthouse is the editor.

Katherine Heigel famously shite all over her part (and the writing and directing) for Knocked Up. Ironically that's probably her peak Hollywood leading role.

Sylvester Stallone screwed up his career for around five years doing "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot" with Estelle Getty from the Golden Girls. The funniest part about him doing that turd was Schwarzenegger apparently duped him into doing the project by lying about wanting to do the film himself.

Reynolds also thought he was a lock for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Boogie Nights, as it would be redemption for Smokey and the Bear, nude centerfold, etc. He was pissed when he didn't win.

If he ever had a real chance for an Oscar, it would have been for Deliverance. . .and he wasn't even nominated.

In real life, he seemed like a dick.

A great modern day example. She destroyed her career with her mouth.
