Why have people become so lazy and think they work so hard, when everytime you turn around they are on their phone or outside smoking or in the bathroom for 30 minutes, and when they mess something up they just shrug it off like no big deal and then act like they deserve 150 k a year,

I hear ya. I'm tired of taking up the slack for people like this. To the point where I almost wish MORE people were on welfare or unemployment. Just get out of the way and let the people actually doing the work take in higher salaries.

Sounds like they have poor leadership.

Yeah, they need leadership to show them where the door is.

If you aren’t setting expectations and goals for them, you’re the problem. Judge them on how they deliver and not on how they spend their day.

I know why and you should also.

Just own a business and try to find good help.

You can figure out the patterns and similarities pretty quick if you are an honest and realistic person.

Yep. I hate having to rely on 100+ other people. I need to start a business I can do alone

boy this strikes a nerve for me today. I am in the process of opening a new clinic which has required countless hours of fricking work. I am ONE SIGNATURE AWAY from that clinics occupational license. I was ready for it at 11 AM...call the woman required that works for this cities dept of health...no response..leave a message..send an email...no response. that afternoon after calling and no one picks up the phone and emailing with no response, I drive my arse there in person. NOT EVEN 3 PM and she's gone for the day. There is a secretary sitting on her arse telling me this.I say I been calling all day..

Oh...they don't answer the phones cause they ring here... WELL WHY THE frick DIDN'T YOU ANSWER IT??

So I now have to get and tell my staff and clients...wait another day...cause some worthless bloated bureaucrat wanted a light day that ended after lunch after being closed on Monday.

ever since covid brought WFH to the masses (at least temporarily), so many people just leave work early now for not so great reasons

I never relied on any employee 100% that’s unrealistic. I’d appreciate 10%.
Don’t take it wrong, I know where you were going. The work ethic and entitlement have become beyond pathetic.

I used to work with a guy who wanted a week off after the 2016 election because he needed to "process his feelings."

You just have to realize that 75 to 85 percent of employees suck. Treat the 25 to 15 percent that don’t suck well and do your best to replace the ones that do suck when possible.
At some point you need bodies so replacement may be a long and arduous process, but it can be done.

Over the past two years I’ve eliminated 26 employees and replaced them with 8 that are more productive and get what we’re about. Probably hired and fired 15 to get those 8. Everyone else is making more money, with more workload and the company saved on payroll and headaches. I’ve got 7 more people who we need to replace, but they are in critical roles so I have to be strategic in doing so. Hopefully by the end of 2025 life will be better all around and I won’t feel like making a post like yours every day.

Ya know what...no. people's livelihood and clients starting treatment are riding on a buerocrat putting her name on a signature line and she's gonna not answer calls and leave for the day at lunch...imma stay pissed.

Well actually just clients affected...im paying them to basically twiddle thumbs tomorrow...again.

I thought you meant me.

But I clocked out at five and am still cleaning the office. Haven't had enough billable hours so, might as well.
